Here's my fix for the bugged headlights on Alaska's SD70.

    - the switch now has 4 working positions - Off/Dim/Med/Bright
    - the lightcone no longer looks weird

    Enjoy!

Another fix. Thanks Torfmeister. They are going to have to get busy and make more DLC...you are catching up and will have nothing to do soon.:D

Thanks sphexi, note that the rear headlight switch moves in sync, nothing I can do about that as they used the same object and animation twice.

    And yes, I'm waiting....

I've added a no-driver version of the SD70MAC as this was missing in the DLC.

This includes the previous lights fix.

Edit: Be aware that the ND engine is not legit for workshop scenarios as it is not part of the official DLC.

Hi Torfmeister. I installed this patch a while ago, but didn't really play the ARR for a bit. I finally got around to playing some of the ARR Scenario Pack that uses the SD70MACs and found 2 things that (I think) your headlight patch changed that were maybe unintentional. When you are using F4 controls, it changes the labels on the Throttle, Reverser, and Brake controls which is a very minor issue. But I also lose the prime mover sounds. I confirmed that when I revert to the original .bin file the sounds return, but when I add the patch back in they disappear again.

It is also possible that it is an incompatibility with the Searchlight Simulations EMD 16N-710G3B pack which I have installed.

It does touch the ARR SD70MAC, so maybe they just can't co-exist. When I have your patched .bin file in, the transition sounds between N1 and N2 play, but the base sounds are not heard.

For now I will revert back to the base .bin file. Let me know if you have any questions or want me to try anything. I still appreciate your work on these things :)

Interesting. The Searchlight script might be depending on the unaltered .bin, as I do not have that I can't investigate. All my patches are for the original versions of the DLC and there are no issues.

I just checked the link, it says something about "independent headlight control". The Searchlight script might rely on 3 notches for the headlight and hits 4 in my .bin which messes it up. So it is not compatible with my fix, but it should adress the issue itself anyway? You should not need my vanilla fix then.

No problem. Just figured it would be good to bring it up in the thread in case someone else ran into the same issue, but didn't connect it to the SS sound mod. I actually finished the scenario with only the sounds from the traction motor...it was eerily silent. It is actually interesting to hear all the other sound layers come to the front without a hulking diesel dominating the sounds.

Feedback appreciated, thanks Sphexi. So does the Searchlight pack fix the headlights too?

Oddly enough no. The cab headlight switches actually don't do anything. They don't register as a usable control. The only headlight adjustment is through the HUD and there are only 3 settings: off, on, on+ditch lights. There is also *no* light cone.

The current functionality I have doesn't match what you have seen. The SS mod is the only thing that I have added for the ARR, so I wonder if the ARR part of the SS mod is "somewhat broken". It is a discontinued product. I may have to reinstall ARR when I get time and see if a clean install matches your original functionality as described in post #1.

All I did was change the max value for headlights from 2 to 3, the notches from 3 to 4, and adjusted rotation and translation of the headlight child objects in the 4x4 matrices. That did the trick, of course only on the default SD70.
