Just got home and downloaded my TSW2 add-ons. The game automatically started download an update for SKW and SEHS. Upon installing an error message appears saying installation not possible, Afterwards the game will not start anymore.
Got the same error messages, game starts only when selecting "start without updating". (EDIT) ... and now it does not let me select that anymore and game doesn't start. (EDIT 2) ... to fix this, I had to delete the failed updates from the download queue. Until they're downloaded again.
I got the game to start again with deleting the updates. But that certainly can't be a real solution. If I delete the game and redownload, it should still add the updates afterwards resulting in the same issue? Maybe DTG can jump in and give some info what is up with these broken update files.
Works in a different way. When you download something that you don't have currently installed, it downloads the full currrent build of the game which includes the latest patch (ie. it is one download, not game + patch). When you download an update, its a smaller update to patch the game to the latest version. The issue is only with the DLC patches, not the full DLC downloads. The main application patches have never caused me an issue, but I have had to delete + redownload routes/trains because of failed to installl errors, see my post above on how to delete just DLC Note, not a solution but I work around it, doesn't happen often enough or bother me enough to make a ticket, and the problem is almost certainly at Sony's end; not to mention that Sony support will just say to delete the DLC and redownload
Thanks for the info! Seems Steam update is having similar problems, so most likely not a Sony issue but a DTG one. I must say, I also have NEVER experienced this on any other Playstation title, of which I have MANY. Thus I highly doubt Sony has anything to do with that problem. They always and only pop up with TSW. By the way, are there any patch notes for these two updates (SKW & SHES)? Maybe I'm blind, but can'T find it.
Couldn't say about Steam, my entire collection is on PS5. Agreed it happens mainly (for me, not solely) on TSW2, but I have had broken updates on other games rarely. When I said it being a Sony problem, that doesn't mean there isn't potentially an issue at DTG end, but the publishing, verification and download + patching mechanisms are of course all provided by Sony and not DTG. Anything related to PS5 ecosystem in that sense is always a platform holder issue, though of course the ultimate root cause may end up with the publisher, perhaps due to a packaging error by the publisher that wasn't picked up by the platform holder during verification (aforementioned is entirely speculation and theorising). For downloads and patching issues, DTG can only offer direct help to end users for downloads from their own store (if they even have downloads, might just be Steam keys for all I know) Re updates for the new stuff, I imagine it will be in the day one patch notes on the main site, which isn't loading for me at the moment
