Dovetail Games Update On Xbox Series S Layers For Tsw5 Core Routes

Hello everyone,

We’ve wanted to update players on Xbox Series S who have shared some confusion with the available layers for TSW5 core routes, and we wanted to help clarify this after checking in with our development teams.

Where possible, we aim to keep available layers on routes equal for both Xbox Series S and Series X, however, there are key technical differences between these two consoles, most notably, the amount of memory available, which can affect this. While both of these consoles have a good amount of RAM, the Series S has 6GB less than the Series X, which makes a big difference in the performance when loading routes with many additional layers.

This has meant we’ve needed to make adjustments to the available layers on Series S, in order to ensure the performance across the routes work to a suitable level. These adjustments are detailed below:

• West Coast Main Line – Xbox Series S players will have all layers enabled, the same as PC and gen9 consoles (PS5/Xbox Series X).
• Frankfurt Fulda – Xbox Series S players will have some layers enabled, but not the entire list that PC and gen9 consoles (PS5/Xbox Series X) will receive. You can find a full list on this announcement post of layers that are included on Series S.
• San Bernardino Line – Xbox Series S players will not have any additional layers and will be at the same experience as players on gen8 consoles (PS4/Xbox One).

We want to apologise that this wasn’t initially clear on our messaging, and we hope this helps you understand what layers you will be able to experience on Xbox Series S.

Frankfurt Fulda – Enabled Xbox Series S Layers
Playable Layers

• FlixTrain BR 193 Vectron
• DB BR 411 ICE-T
• RB12, RB34, RB52, RB53, RB61, RE2, RE9, RE14, RE30, RE68, RE70 (Passenger services using DB BR 114 and 146 locomotives with Dostos between Frankfurt Hbf and Fulda.)
• S8, S9 (DB BR 423 S-Bahn services – Internal layers within Frankfurt)
• Intermodel-2 (Vectron services – Internal layers within Frankfurt)
• Sggmrss, Habbiins, Kijls and Tadgs wagons (DB BR 193 Vectron freight services)

AI Layers

• S1, S2, S3, S4, S5, S6, S7 (DB BR 423 S-Bahn services – Internal layers within Frankfurt)

Additionally, there are further layers we are making available to players on Xbox Series S in an upcoming update for Frankfurt-Fulda. This includes:

• Blue DB BR 363 from Maintalbahn
• DB BR 103 from Linke Rheinstrecke (Rail tour services)
• RB 20, RB21 (Passenger services using DB BR 114 and 146 locomotives with Dostos between Frankfurt Hbf and Fulda.)
• RB22 (Maintalbahn BR 642 services)
• TGV from the LGV Méditerranée add-on (This layer is listed, but doesn’t provide any gameplay – See our explanation)

Finally, if you've not seen our Xbox Entitlement Update - we're been rolling out the missing content for Xbox players to now be able to use their compatible collection in TSW5. Please see more details on the post, but you can expect these to appear from now over the next 24 hours. Thank you for being patient with our teams whilst we resolved this issue.

Hello everyone, after confirming with our development teams, the above messaging has been amended and updated to reflect some of the layers that were not showing to players because they are not yet included, and will be added as part of a future post-release patch for Xbox Series S players in an upcoming update for Frankfurt-Fulda. This includes:

• Blue DB BR 363 from Maintalbahn (This was originally incorrectly listed as the DB BR 363 from Ruhr Sieg Nord and Hauptstrecke Rhein-Ruhr)
• DB BR 103 from Linke Rheinstrecke (Rail tour services)
• RB 20, RB21 (Passenger services using DB BR 114 and 146 locomotives with Dostos between Frankfurt Hbf and Fulda.)
• RB22 (Maintalbahn BR 642 services)
• TGV from the LGV Méditerranée add-on (This layer is listed, but doesn’t provide any gameplay – See our explanation)

Thank you for helping identify these layers that were not showing up, we will share more news once we have been able to include these services in a patch for Xbox Series S players.

Hello everyone, today we've just released an update to Xbox Series S players which will enable all of the San Bernardino Line additional layers, following small memory optimisations we've been testing on the route that support this inclusion and bring the experience more in line with Xbox Series X and PS5.

• West Coast Main Line – Xbox Series S players will have all layers enabled, the same as PC and gen9 consoles.
• San Bernardino Line – Xbox Series S players will have all layers enabled, the same as PC and gen9 consoles.
  
• Frankfurt Fulda – Xbox Series S players will have some layers enabled, with details of this shared above.
