I have been suggested a couple of times to get TSC working normally I need to install newer BIOS, I had finally managed to get around to it. I checked versions on the manufacturer website and there was a note stating from earlier versions (F23) I need to install F31 for the AB350M-G3 then the newer version. I downloaded F31, extracted folder and placed the same file as in the tutorial on the USB. I restarted into the BIOS settings and installed F31, it then restarted to boot menu and froze, it will not start or enter BIOS. I tried removing all drives, devices, removed the CMOS cell, waited 5 minutes, bridged the CMOS reset pins, reset everything and it still does not work, I have tried making the second BIOS take over and it worked briefly but stopped. What am I supposed to do now? I looked at several threads on tech forums but there's nothing other than restart it then try CMOS reset. This was suggested multiple times but doing so appears to have destroyed the motherboard. MB: AB350M-G3 GPU: RTX 3060 CPU: Ryzen 5 2600 RAM: 32GB
Just to confirm, that's the the Gigabyte model, correct? What exactly did the second BIOS do re. "worked briefly but stopped"? When you upgraded the BIOS, did you also follow the website's instructions about first updating the AMD chipset driver? When resetting the BIOS and removing the battery, did you turn off the power and unplug the PC? Also, is the battery top side up? (Basic CYA questions, not meant to cause offense.) Have you tried replacing the CMOS battery with a fresh one, just in case? It is a 7+ year old board. Have you tried contacting Gigabyte's tech support?
IMO the CMOS battery heeds to be out for at least 15 to 20 minutes and as C266 recommends use a new battery. This article gives 5 methods on how to recover frpm a bios upate (a common experience apparently) have you tried these? https://www.diskpart.com/articles/pc-wont-boot-after-bios-update-1796-rc.html There are some commecial recovery discs available - have you tried any of those? More advanced https://www.thewindowsclub.com/pc-wont-boot-after-bios-update-fix https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/5-best-rescue-disks-windows-system-restore/
The board is less than 7 years old as I got it in either 2020 or 2021, I am unable to access the drivers as it will not get past the boot screen, I have tried removing the battery as well as resetting both the CMOS pins. The Windows boot drive will not work as it won't pass the boot screen and I am also unable to get on to the BIOS.
I would take it to your local PC hardware shop and let them have a look. Maybe just replacing the BIOS chips will work. While your series 60 GPU is enough for HD gaming, don't expect wonders with that processor though - TSC needs CPU power and yours is on the lower end.
The 2600 can handle running newer BeamNG models, why would it be unable to run TSC which is much older and hasn't changed anywhere near as dramatically? I looked for PC stores near to where I live and the only ones are chain stores that just sell new stuff, they don't do repairs or parts as I have been looking for parts before.
Because it is a single core process that cannot be multithreaded. Therefore the performance of each core is important for TSC.
Power On Self Test all PC's do it although it's often hidden behind a logo\splash screen. Do you see anything on screen? A logo?
Use Google to find somewhere to fix your computer - I know of a local shop in the UK that fixed a friends computer Use Amazon to buy spare parts for the computer. I used to use a computer shop but as that closed Amazon is an alternative
And never underestimate the destructive power of static electricity. Ground yourself when working on hardware!
PC shops only want to sell a brand new PC. I have a new motherboard in it (B550M) and after a nightmare of trying to get Windows to work with a new motherboard I managed to get everything working again. I had sought assistance through family to try and recover the old MB but the BIOS chip is completely dead and not even the B-BIOS would work. If I can get someone that can replace both chips I could possibly use it to put a second computer together, but I have a new motherboard in now so it is working fine. The only thing that isn't working seems to be my Thrustmaster T150 Pro which seems to lose force feedback after a while but only in some games but it seems to be the ones where FFB is set lower. I have not had any issues running TSC except one random crash on ATS Chat Moss in scenario editor but that's ATS Chat Moss and scenario editor so it's more likely with all the extra scenery and asset loading going on at the same time. I always leave the power cable plugged in (3 core) but both the socket switch and PSU switch off and keep the side of my arms in contact with the case, it can be a bit tricky especially when I don't have a proper work bench but it works. I don't think I will bother trying to flash the BIOS again though.
You are not grounded if the power cable is not plugged in or not 3 core which could possibly cause static discharge to damage components, unless you wire yourself to some pipework or sit in the kitchen sink. As that old Soviet Russia meme goes, "In the world of micro electronics, computer gets zapped by you"
For the next time something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Cables-Unlimited-ACC-1400-Static-Grounding/dp/B000EDMPQK Some years ago, I had trouble with a "half done" BIOS update (removed the stick too early as the board needed it after the reboot). I found a company that delivered BIOS chips - the board had a removable chip. So maybe you google for "bios chip replacement AB350M-G3".
HI contact jayz2twocents at http://www.youtube.com/@Jayztwocents iv updated my bios on my asrock z77 Extreme before with no problems train simulator don't have anything to do with a bios.
The motherboard does not work and I have had to replace it with a new one, after completing steps to reset it did nothing and was unrecoverable due to the bios update.
