It would be really cool if you could increase your FPS with upscaling at some point, as with Dlls and Fsr. Frame Generation would also be cool!
Frame generation would only be for the 40 series gpus which not everyone has. I don't think it's really necessary for tsw since it's not a rtx title or graphics heavy title where you would see the most benefits considering a 40 series gpu is overkill for a game like tsw. Unless you're trying to play on 8k. Dlss and fsr is more likely.
Nonetheless, even older cards with older scaling routines (like AMD's VSR) provide some benefit, and hardware scaling is always faster than in-app software scaling.
Whilst officially the case it’s not true re frame generation. It is possible to use FG on any RTX card via an astounding and very simple mod, and that’s not even talking about AMD’s FSR3. That will essentially enable FG for everyone and is imminent and game changing. I use the mod right now on numerous games FWIW and it has absolutely transformed MSFS for me. DTG are so far behind the drag curve on this it’s embarrassing and they need to wake up to this stuff. TSW still runs on DX11 for crying out loud.
That's the issue, even though it isn't, it still runs like... something I'm not allowed to mention on these forums...
If you have a Radeon GPU, you can use RSR which is FSR, just on driver-level, which supports every game without FSR built in. But I have to disappoint you - the improvements are close to zero, because graphics aren't the culprit of TSWs performance issues, it's because of badly optimized handling of models, assets, memory and so on.
Trust me, it works. I’ve seen it, can’t say how but I’ve seen TSW with driver based Frame Generation on and the improvements are massive.
In case anyone with a 20 or 30 series RTX card wishes to utilise frame generation on games that support it, here’s what I’m talking about. It is absolutely, monumentally, game-changing. On other games yes, but not in TSW, at least on a RX 7800 XT. Frame Generation can also only do so much, too. And most importantly, resolution upscaling only works if you are upscaling to 1440p or 4K, if your target resolution is 1080p, it will look garbage most of the time.
