It's time for another of my US cities route ideas. The first suggestion I did was Chicago. Now, let's go west to Los Angeles, California. LA has a lot of potential routes. BNSF and UP handle freight services out of the yards and ports of LA. Metrolink (which is already in game) serves LA commuters. Amtrak runs several long-distance passenger trains out of LA Union Station, including the Coast Starlight, SW Chief, and Sunset Limited. Coaster, another commuter agency in southern California, runs from San Diego to Oceanside, sharing the rails with the Pacific Surfliner. -LA Route Idea #1: Pacific Surfliner: LA-San Diego: The Pacific Surfliner runs 350 miles from San Diego to San Luis Obispo, CA. That's way too long for TSW5, so I'd suggest the section between LA and San Diego (128 miles; still too long, but it could be done in the future if we could get longer routes). Amtrak, Metrolink, and Coaster Commuter also share parts of this line, as well as BNSF RR freight trains between LA and Fullerton and in San Diego. Loco suggestions: -BNSF: ET44C4, ES44C4, GP60, GP38-2, C44-9W -Surfliner: SC44 Charger (prefered), P42DC, F59PHI (DLC), Surfliner Cab Car -Coaster: SC44 Charger, F40PHM-2C (DLC), Bi-level Cab Car -Layers: Metrolink trains from those routes -LA Route Idea #2: LA-Area Freight Trains with UP and/or BNSF (maybe SP and/or ATSF as well): The LA area also has intermodal facilities and other industries. BNSF and UP have yards in the LA area, which include BNSF's Hobart Intermodal Yard in LA, UP's West Colton Yard, and BNSF's San Bernardino Yards. Southern Pacific ran freight in the area until the merger with UP, so maybe we could get some SP power on an LA-area route.
