Today is Valentine’s Day! And if there’s one nation that LOVES its freight trains, it’s the USA. With new American content arriving in Train Sim World 3 on February 21st, both these and passenger trains are covered in two separate Bundles for new and existing players to enjoy.

Excellent article and for the Passenger Bundle it means NEC Trenton to Boston without the Missing NYC Providence section LIRR SFJ and Harlem Lines.

Such a waste of a pack, should either be....

    A: Cheaper
    B: Included more

What also I find a slap in the face is this promo image...
    TSW3-Freight-Bundle.jpg

UP 1983 on Cajon Pass at Summit. Like the UP layers I keep asking for to run between the Cutoff and Barstow, yet nowhere to be found....

$15 for 6 liveries that could've been made for free and a few scenarios but with no new timetable services as well? $15 is overpriced in my view. It's too much for too little

US freight bundle/pack is miserable, not even new timetables an layers... Its enthropy of US freight in TSW... especially for current users, about whom DTG doesnt seemingly care, just new ones count.

Then some wonder why some feel that U.S content (freight and passenger) always get the short end of the stick and there are some don't like hearing criticism when it is warranted.

Yea I’ll pass. This US content is looking worse and worse. At least with the first loco bundle you received some new timetable services

This should've been at least $3-$5 max if DTG really wanted money out of it. Not $15

The price of the heritage pack is literally in the article. The actual individual price will be available on release day. That's just showing the bundle price

Yea I see it. Doesn’t matter not interested. Price is way to high. Doesn’t offer any new services.

I may have been interested if they had done the NS heritage fleet. NS painted their heritage locomotives in a true to prototypical manner to reflect what the fallen flag road would look like with these new locos. UP did a very stylized version which, personally, I don't like.

6 scenarios + 6 liveries (which similar could be downloaded for free from creators club), does not and never will equate to £10.00 Perhaps if a new layer on Sherman Hill had been included coupled with a discount/lower price point I might have been tempted, but for now it'll sit on the shelf until a 50%+ discount is available.

I agree about the stylized paint jobs. I would have preferred to see the locos dressed in their original liveries, like the NS Heritage Pack for TSC. But that was UP's decision, not DTG's.

The NS pack has, I think, 10 or so liveries for $19.99. This one has 6 for $14.99, not a major difference in price I would say.

I'll be picking this UP pack up next week, mainly for the extra gameplay on SMH, and partly because I want to encourage DTG to do more reskins. For instance, I would love to see an NS Heritage Pack for HSC in the near future.

I'm not the slightest bit interested in Creators' Club, which, in my view, is a poor substitute for the full editor

I feel like the headlights don’t light up the ground very far. Does DTG know American locomotives have bright headlights compared to the trains in the UK? Sand Patch is hard to see at night with weak lights. The BNSF Cajon Sub has better headlight range to see further ahead but why not the other North American routes? Why no updates on them?

I just think it's a little too pricy for what you get, even though they do look nice. I'm torn because i want to encourage more official repaints.

Like others have said, the CC liveries are great, but limited by the toolset available.

Might see what the final NY-Trenton preview looks like before deciding if i buy Acela &Trenton, or Acela and UP pack.

The US headlight issue has been a thorn in my side for the last 5 years. DTG say they cannot produce effective headlights because it would create problems during daylight. Personally, I don't accept that excuse. Other UE games have proper headlights. I think it's just a lack of effort and/or commitment.

Actually, SPG and CJP have proven to me that, when they make the effort, DTG can model proper US headlights ( and things like tunnel reverb, for instance).

Spanish shame both for american friends and for fans of the american railways - DTG continues to feed with a shovel for double the price, there are simply no words/

    P. S. USA content was worstest in series TSW, and still until does//

NS also had a ton of them too. 10 on ES44s and 10 on SD70ACes. Shame upper management left them to look like crap IRL.

Also, I don't see DTG doing them since HSC is a Skyhook route, maybe if they do their own NS route they will.

I have 1 big hope about updated Sherman Hill: Mainline freight with SD40-2's + AC4400CW's from Cane Creek subbing in. Just this and Sherman Hill will be perfect... Oh and don't forget the E-Bells on some heritage units and normal SD70ACe's.

Can dash those hopes straight away - Matt confirmed on stream that the only changes to Sherman Hill is TOD4 sky, a fix for the turntable and a bit of extra scenery in the yard.

They havent even fixed the bugged in cab signaling.

As the others above me said already, the price tag is too steep for my liking. I’ll stick with CC repaints at least until a sale comes around.

Regarding headlights in the topic is you can’t see them from far when looking towards a train approaching and they don’t have the bright glow to them. They had bright glow in the first TSW when Sand Patch was first released. What happened after that?

I rather not see the Skyhook games AC44 anymore, wish DTG would do their own UP AC44 with more accurate details.

The second Cajon Pass Pic shows the SD70Ace "1983 Western Pacific". Does this mean that that Loco will sub in there on the Bnsf track instead on the UP track only so far?

Cab signalling is a much bigger issue and will probably need a whole rework. It's an enhancement pack cuz the gameplay team had some downtime. Don't think they are experts in signals or anything

How so? Are the locomotive painters qualified to build routes?

It seems these skins will be simply limited to one scenario each... So with one of these liveries Im simply doomed to repeat one scenario all over again? What about timetable? No?

They can spawn into the existing Sherman Hill timetable, but that's it. No new timetable services.

-If the Sherman Hill upgrades included finishing track 3 scenery, they could of added services there.

-The pack could of also added drivable UP services to Cajon Pass and Peninsula Corridor.

Yet none of those 2 will happen, so it adds very little to Sherman Hill, which is why IMO the packs price is too steep.

To be honest, the Skyhook's AC44 was poorly made and bought Cane Creek Branch was the worst decision I've ever made as an US freight enthusiasts. Would be better if DTG develop themself an american engines pack for all american freight route even if it's only a repaints and little adjustment in model to match the specific railroad spec.

I like that separate DLS are being released with high-quality repaints and additional scenarios. This will definitely be in my collection and I'm looking forward to new similar DLS. These things add variety and make the game more fun.
The price is a little disappointing, in my opinion it is quite high. But I accepted this for myself as compensation for the cost of efforts to improve the route. I think that the price would be completely justified if the 3rd track was completed.
In the end, I want to thank DTG for their work, and this package is already in my library.

If Wick Moorman was still in charge of Norfolk Southern he would have made sure that the heritage fleet would still look brand new but now the heritage units get treated like the rest of the fleet extremely filthy and faded worn out paint and they just gave the Reading heritage unit a bath and this is the result of how it looks after

You can see in the video from Festival of Rail that all units have steel bells... so yeah, it's just the liveries with no model changes...

Scattering a few static assets around is not building a route.

I note that with the reskinned locos they weren't even able to remove the mechanical bells where appropriate.

Finishing track 3 is a lot of work tbh. I'd hope it might come with a loco DLC someday, but with TOD4 added with this pack, Sherman might be done from DTG at least.

Not having driveable UP on Cajon is baffling though. I really don't understand it.

Maybe they will add them to Penninsula Corridor whenever the long awaited update finally arrives?
