Hi guys I realized that ac70ace and all others us freight locos (except es44c4) give no control of air brakes when they works as rear DPU. Simply You have no control over their air brakes, so have no braking power on the back (dynamics, reverser and throttle works fine - I know how to make DPU working ) I wonder if it common issue.
When set up as DPU the trains are simply running as slaves so they will apply brakes the same as a wagon does as the Brake Pipe lowers in pressure. We did modify our "banking comm" to allow for dynamic brakes as of Cajon but that wasn't present previously - it's all a fudge really since we don't have proper DPU yet.
pictures of properly set up dpus brake cylinders of front and rear ac70aces (everything works except air brakes). rear does not respond to front controls.
Thanks for reply Matt. As I understood for now we have no independent and automatic brakes on rear dpus. They are braking just as wagons. But why ES44C4 works fine? It respond to air brakes commands while being rear dpu. So if one loco works and others dont, seems like a bug. If it works in cajon (es44c4) please modify rest of the us freight locos and routes, as for now it destroys the dpu trains in sherman, horse, sand patch and cane creek. The idea of having dpus is halfway undone without proper braking capability.
I think the would take a lot of dev time to implement. I don't think it's a 5 minute fix cuz it would require changing the braking physics and mechanics and any other technical stuff. I'm not a game dev but some things are not a quick fix
Anyway, it would be worth to get working dpu finally. Im really into ithis, cos I play mainly us long freights. ps. just checked, es44c4 stops twice faster idling down the 0,1 gradient with banking comm: on, using independent brakes on the rear dpu than without rear dpu connected (no rear dpu independent brakes) . Btw the automatic brakes works as well. ps2. I created random scenario with se44c4 dpu train on the cane creek and the rear dpu air brakes works, so it is locos issue, not the route.
After checking that dpu have been lacking development for at least a year or more, Im back to cajon. Give us DP synchronous mode for now (es44c4 works like this:power, dynamics, mimicking brakes) Fencing can wait. Majority of engeneers use DP synchro, boring but efficient. In comparison with ess44c4, the rest of the US freight locos works in BVOUT mode (power, dynamics, no brakes cut out)
