I tipped Marias Pass. Or Donner. But do you have any thoughts what Dovetail could be working on? No, not what you want. That is for another thread. This is about the next US route.
Not a huge fan of US freight routes but one I did enjoy from TSC and would love to see again was Soldier Summit.
None, I feel like the 2 US routes on the road map are an East Coast passenger route and an LA based passenger route.
It needs to be something radically different to what we already have in the game. There are only so many times you can run up the hill in Notch 8 then down the other side with dynamics pegged while you read a novel.
All the work that was done for the Metrolink content, 9,000+ photos, 50+ hours of recordings, the time spent to model LA Union Station, pretty accurate train sets (giving credit where credit is due, despite the other bugs with the route.) all for one single route? It makes you wonder if it is indeed going to be another LA based passenger route, specifically where Metrolink operates. LA-East Ventura, LA-Oceanside, LA-San Bernardino via Fullerton. (This would be the best choice and offer the best of both worlds. You can run BNSF from Hobart to San Bern or Metrolink from LA to San Bern. The Southwest Chief is also an option but would require Amtrak long distance equipment - this is an extreme long shot. Maybe on TSW5 or 6, after the route has been abandoned.) I hope they follow their own logic, as Matt has stated several times, both on here and on streams, that they focus on stuff that’s never been done before.
There are players who like only freight and there hasn't been one since cajon pass so one is likely to be a freight route
Need a good inner city/town freight route. Like delivery to several manufacturing plants and whatnot. Usually consists of gp38, sd40-2 and sd70macs.
Yet DTG doesn't give me any vibes they will do a solid freight only route, at most it would be a duel use route with both passenger and freight, at least for the LA area as the corridor between Redondo Junction and Fullerton is a hot mainline with BNSF, Metrolink and Amtrak traffic. And if they do a solid freight route, it will most likely be underwhelming again, and probably be a notch 8 snoozefest.
Id love if they did my local route. CSX and NS running up and down Monongahela river. Csx one side and NS on the other. Running coal to coke plants and whatnot. Also have smaller local runs with covered hoppers to concrete plants
No, it's actually what they are working on. This is not a "hope they build it" thread. The route is almost ready to be announced......
Why? The mine only gets traffic when necessary and would be a very small timetable, and those who hate light timetables will complain about it.
You got a point there. I thought of that route since it was one of the routes from TS Classic. I do wonder, what would be a good freight route candidate for the US?
I think something we haven't thought of. But a high speed one maybe as the mountain passes just seem to be getting repeated all the time. But I guess they want flexibility with passenger too. Something like the Chicago to Byron route where it is like German routes and heavily diversified. Lots of various passenger and freight services. Keeps everyone happy.
Chicago might be hard because dtg are unable to get a metra or other Chicago licenses. If it's chicago, it would have to be freight only
One route from TSC that might do good service in TSW with mixed freight and passenger is the Boston and Albany. However it would require it to be a retro route which, apart from the now forgotten CRR, DTG do not seem that keen on doing period North America.
This would be a fun route for TSW. Maybe they could do a modern period with Amtrak, MBTA and CSX equipment? We still need an Amtrak diesel, but everything else is already in game i think.
MBTA? Chicago Metra? Yes DTG doesn't have a license but they could just use the F40 from the Caltrain route and have it blank.
Why suggest routes that have already been done before? I think majority of players want to see something new. Go play it on TSC if you still desire to run it but the focus of TSW should be new routes and equipment not previously done. Like I said above, this is what Matt said their focus is for new content both on here and in live stream. Whether that actually ends up being the case remains to be seen.
Tsc doesn't have a timetable mode tsw does. They can't only focus on things never done otherwise none of the tsc stuff would exist in tsw when there is demand for those. Majority of the tsw dlc currently wouldn't exist. If dtg could easily obtain licenses, then maybe we can see the new stuff, but that's not the case.
Except they won't do unbranded content. Look at all the flak island line 2022 got when rivet couldn't get a swr license.
For me it's equal if we will get Freight only or dual use routes. Most important is, that there is american freight at all. And the next time it's hopefully with more freight like at Antelope (50 car consists only).
Kinda sad. I love older train routes. Clinchfield is one of my favorite freight routes because it’s set in an era where if you wanted more power, you were going to need 4-6 engines to run longer trains.
High hoods would be absolutely great to have in the game. I think if they introduced them, a good route would be Saluda Grade. They revolutionized trains on the grades and they became famous for their effectiveness over the W-Line.
How about Norfolk Southern Lehigh Line Allentown to Newark,NJ Western segment is CRRNJ Line From Phillipsburg to Newark,NJ the LV RR route
