Hello there and Happy New Year!!!

Hopefully it's better than last one for most of us. Heads up anyway.

I've been wondering recently about finding a different gameplay experience in TSW(3) and as part of the new years blah, blah, blah I figured that I shall learn something new to try to find something new. That's learning US freight. So I was wondering I shall ask from the community: Which US freight route would you suggest for a noob, complete beginner to start with?

Thank you in advance for your suggestions :)

Sand Patch, without a doubt. The grade is challenging without being too rough for a newbie. Shunting as well as road work. And three locos, each different.
(Oakville is very easy. Problem is, you won't learn a lot from it for that reason)

I feel like Sherman Hill would make a good introduction. The route is fairly straightforward, starting in Cheyenne, going up the big 1.5% hill, and then an easier 0.8% downhill past Hermosa towards Laramie. The physics on the route are more up to date, notably the dynamic brakes on the SD70ACe being MUCH better than the AC4400CW. The route also provides a fine enough tutorial for hill starts, that's always good.

In terms of gameplay, Sherman Hill is definitely great for starting out. There are plenty of services between Hermosa and Laramie which are only about 40 minutes on a 0.8% grade, providing a fairly quick and simple run to start familiarizing yourself with the train. There are also services that go between Hermosa and Cheyenne that are good for when you want to just challenge yourself with the hill, without going the full route. The SD40-2 is also included for switching services, so there's some variety available.

    Sherman Hill, that's my recommendation.

Thank you very much. As I already own SPG and to be honest... When I play it, I want to hit my controller against the console. Also, OSD I find boring but the freight stuff on Peninsula Corridor I find quite good and enjoyable.

Anyway! So, I did go with your suggestion and so far (2 days) I've been enjoying it. Even though the route gas far too short drawing distance etc... Plus other issues, I've been enjoying the Sherman Hill. Thank you for your good recommendation, it is definitely worth it and good route to start from and... Idk. Thank you, I've been enjoying it!

I also went with Horseshoe Curve (haven't tried yet but downloaded it)

Horseshoe curve doesn't have realistic braking mechanics or physics so it's a big step back from sherman Hill. Sounds also aren't great. In terms of scenery it is well done. Regardless, I hope you enjoy it

I know. I got Horseshoe Curve mostly because of switching. It reminds me a bit of Peninsula Corridor in that sense. Plus the branch line. The fact that it was on sale also did help.
Also, I think that Horseshoe Curve is as it is because it's done by a different developer. Which is always two headed thing to be honest.
So basically you are correct aka I agree with you.

    Thank you.
