I know this should be in Off Topic but DTG are really Stereotyping American train fans with the non stop Freight routes that are 40mph and lower. You realise we would love a NEC route, NYC subway, LIRR Amtrack or anything like that
Yeah, because there is totally not a shot that shows a speedboard that is higher than 40mph... Because we totally need another route set around New York....
There are indeed routes that have faster speeds than 25mph or so. Not to forget, Sherman Hill does have fast speeds on either sides. Not every route have to be in the Northeast or with NEC at this point. (I swear, what is it with people wanting more Northeast US routes, nothing but urban cities all round. Really depressing honestly)
Not trying to start any fights here but people on this forum have been asking non stop for a NYC subway route since TSW2020, IIRC there have even been polls done and I’m pretty sure DTG themselves have admitted that most players would prefer US passenger routes over freight.
Heavy Freight Routes: Sand Patch Grade Clinchfield Railroad Sherman Hill Cajon Pass NEC/NYC route: NEC: New York LIRR Boston Spinter Harlem Line Other: Peninsula Corridor Oakville Subdivision I don't count Cane Creek or Horseshoe Curve as those are 3rd party routes. But it looks like a pretty even split to me.
While that's what you say, as your opinion. But from one DTG member had said, and as a quote: (Quote is from this post a while back) And while a little dated, but still brings up a valid point. Not everywhere in the world has to be focused on passengers all the time. There's still gonna be a balance between the two, whether you like it or not. And for some, in other places than just one spot in the region (as the post above me points out).
Because 3rd parties do their own thing, what SHG wants to do doesnt effect what DTG want to do. And how isn't it equal if we remove NEC new York? It's still an even 3 to 3 split if we don't include Cajon as it's not out yet.
Just reading the write up tells me Your Overseas and Believe whatever Dovetail throws in front of you as REAL ha-ha NOPE FALSE truth be told Dovetail can't produce or manage Real Life American Freight as it is to complicated for them, Don't believe anything you hear from them as there only a game company trying to sell a Simulator that's NOT a SIMULATOR to players that have NO clue as I did the REAL LIFE WORK for 38 Years and in game "ISN'T LEGIT" Fake but call yourself a Simulator as I ask Where?
I'm not taking sides because I enjoy both types of routes. But here's my wish list route. This may be a bit of a challenge. If you're gonna do the NEC you gotta do it right. NEC NY to Washington DC including - Amtrak ACELA express service - Amtrak regional services - Amtrak long distance services (Cardinal, Silver trains to Fla etc) - NJ Transit express and local services to Trenton - NJ Transit express and local services North Jersey Coast Line as far as Woodbridge (one stop past NEC mainline) - NJ Transit Morristown services from NY Penn Station via Newark Broad St station (one stop off NEC Maintain) - Septa services between Trenton and 30th St Station - Septa services between 30th St Station and Newark DE - Marc Services between Perryville MD and Washington DC Now if you want some US higher speed freight runs how about UP Kearney Subdivision between Bailey Yard (the largest in USA) and someplace east of North Platte NE on the triple track main BNSF Transcon between Ft Madison Iowa and somewhere past La Plata Missouri NS mainline between Jersey City / Elizabethport etc and Allentown PA
Here are two more suggestions for high-speed freight services in the US. BNSF runs fast freights between Needles, California, and Winslow, Arizona. This is the BNSF Seligman Sub. It's 293.5 miles long, so it would have to be done in sections, but it could be done. The top speed is 70 mph for freights and 90 mph for passenger trains. Also, the Seligman Sub would be the perfect route to include an Amtrak P42DC Genesis (or maybe a Siemens ALC-42 Charger in the future) and an Amtrak Southwest Chief Superliner Consist. I'd also suggest a BNSF GP60 or GP60M-3 for local freights/switching and a BNSF ET44C4, SD70ACe, or C44-9W for heavy freights. This could also be an awesome 1980s-90s ATSF route with SD40-2s, SD45s, or SD45-2s handling fast freights. A B40-8W, C44-9W, C40-8W, U-Boat, or Dash-7 in ATSF livery could also be included. GP35s, GP30s, GP50s, GP60s/GP60Ms, GP40Xs, or GP39-2s could be perfect local/switching locos. For passenger trains, an Amtrak F40PH, P32-8BWH, or P42DC could also be included. The Brightline route from Miami-West Palm Beach in Florida has a top speed of 79 mph (faster with the upcoming route extensions, which should be included) and has both freight and passenger trains. This route would include an FEC ES44C4 w/ LNG fuel tender, an FEC GP40-2/GP40-3, and a Siemens SCB-40 Charger w/ Siemens Venture Passenger Cars.
