In my view Sand Patch Grade is still the gold standard and I fear that it always will be, because I don't think DTG has the wherewithal in terms of personnel and resources to do as well or better. Anyway, I still play it regularly. Clinchfield is a close second, marred by the inexcusable absence of banking coms which make some services unplayable.
I do not play US freight because of the usual long slow drag over steep hills. but from what I have and what I know in my option clinchfield is the best
Clinchfield very now and again, but TBH none of the TSW freight routes can match what's available in TSC or Run 8.
Clincfield always grabs my attention. I play all the us routes but clinchfield im more likely to complete a run.
My favorite is Sand Patch Grade and I also like the freight runs on the MBTA Commuter: Boston - Framingham/Worcester Line
My favorite US freight route is... Antelope Valley. Sadly there are so few freights on it. But I had to vote, so Cajon and Horseshoe.
Cajon Pass and Sand Patch Grade for me. I love pulling a mile of train behind me. Almost gave up on CJP at first until I learned how to drive downhill. Had to watch some videos to learn to bleed the brakes in order for the dynamics to engage. I think I finished my first run just by hitting the EOTD button every mile or so… Glad to hear people like CRR. I have it but haven’t jumped on that route yet.
I like the scenery in Cajon Pass and Cane Creek a lot because it’s so different. Cane has some tricky gradients and I especially enjoy the big yards in Cajon, If CRR had come with a high hood it would have been so much better.
I love it in TSC but in TSW it’s meh. The lack of high hoods ruins it for me. Look at any period photo and they are prevalent. I’ve left if off my latest install.
