Hi all, i have a question about using the GSM-R in the AP Class 444. I use https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/ to get the head codes of a service i want to run which is great (although i notice the 4 digit head code listed on RTT is not the one to use for GSM-R, i need the "identity" code instead). However i can add that fine, my question is how do i add the 3-digit signal number following the head code as specified in the manual? I am sure i am missing something on the track side, though i cannot seem to find what this 3 digit code is so i just use a random number (which i don't really want to do if i can help it). The manual, which i printed out and read through completely before setting out just says that you "use the signal number you are standing in, in a 3 digit format, for example WH84 would require you to enter 084". Where do i find this signal number? Thank you for your time.
On the Signal - there is a plate on each signal depending on the Signal Box controlling it https://www.networkrail.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/signals-lights-at-Blackpool-North.png
Hi, thanks for your reply! It seems so obvious to me now! i will have a closer look around in camera mode to see if i can find the correct signals, though i haven't so far. Do i need to update them as i go or do i just need to set the origin signal only?
As it is not real I don't think it makes a difference In real life the diver pushes a button to speak to the Signalman - who does not exist in the game If you stop at a red signal then TAB asks the system if you can pass the signal at Danger
I didn't think so but thought i would ask out of interest anyway. The last trip i did, when i loaded in the first thing i saw out of the cab window was the signal with the corresponding code! (turns out it was the wrong one anyway, it was for the track to my left, the one i wanted was the green one above the cab that i only saw when admiring my shiny new South Western Railway livery!). I didn't know about the TAB option though, i will try that next time i stop at a red light. Thanks again!
If you are stopped you the other keys to look outside When I was trying to do a 444 scenario I could not see the signal so [2] shows me the front and [3] the back
That's what i did in the end, only takes a second so i just have to remember to do it every trip! great having the shortcuts though.
I believe you could also use the map mode and read the signal number from the map. Of course, TS being what it is, all these things probably would need you to get the information and then restart the scenario, otherwise you will be late!
Not all signal numbers are shown in the map If you are stood at a signal as you set up the train view 2 takes you outside and you can see it
