Ever since DTG announced that an MP36 and Bombardier cars would be joining the game, I've been thinking about a route that could have these new rolling stock be the "star" of. The first thing that came to mind is the UTA Frontrunner that runs between Salt Lake City and Provo, Utah (Union Pacific runs on the line as well). With a route length of around 44 miles, it fits well within the realm of being a TSW route in terms of length. Since UTA and Caltrain MP36 locomotives are essentially identical in terms of setup, minus the UTA locomotives having the passenger door controls in the cab. The only things that would need to be done really would be sound changes and minor cosmetic changes, mostly to the cab car. The only rolling stock that would need to be built from the ground up would be their comet cars that are present at the front of the consist directly behind the locomotive. The UTA frontrunner's unique operation style, as well as its track profile, would be a unique and challenging commuter route that would be a welcomed addition by many in the community. Linked below is a video of a cab ride inside of an MP36 posted by the official UTA YouTube channel, where their assistant manager of rail operations narrates and explains various operating procedures of the UTA frontrunner:
