Introduction to the Map: This demo map is dedicated to the historic and evocative Brescia-Iseo-Edolo Railway, a single-track, non-electrified line extending for approximately 103 km in Lombardy. Crossing the Brescia plain, skirting the picturesque Lake Iseo, and climbing the entire Camonica Valley to the edge of the high mountains, it offers a unique setting for TSW6. The driving experience focuses on regional passenger transport, in an operating environment featuring Italian signaling and safety systems, such as the SCC (Sistema di Supporto alla Condotta) or the SCMT. Panorama of the Line: The route is divided into three main sections, each with its own distinctive character: -Brescia - Iseo: The initial stretch runs through the plains and Franciacorta, famous for its vineyards. The line is fast and passes through residential areas and agricultural areas, with the historic branch line to Rovato (if included) and the arrival in the lakeside town of Iseo. -Iseo - Pisogne: This is the most scenic section. The railway runs close to the eastern shore of Lake Iseo, offering spectacular views. It passes through small tunnels and passes villages such as Sulzano and Sale Marasino. -Pisogne - Edolo: From Pisogne, the line enters the Val Camonica, following the course of the Oglio River. The landscape gradually becomes more mountainous, with steeper gradients (up to 21‰) and tight bends, touching important spa and historic centres such as Darfo-Corna, Boario Terme and Breno, up to the terminus of Edolo, nestled in the Alps. Types of Services: The line is primarily used for regional passenger transport (RegioExpress RE3 and Regionali R services), but also offers opportunities for other types of services: - Regional Passenger Trains (Service S): Services that make all or almost all stops along the route, covering the entire line or partial sections (e.g., Brescia-Iseo). - Regional Express Trains (Service RE): RE3 services (Brescia-Edolo) that skip some stops to more quickly connect the Brescia capital with the Upper Camonica Valley. Stations: Rolling stock: ATR 125 "Stadler GTW 4/12" (Diesel truck) ALn 668 Series 130/140 (Diesel truck) The Brescia-Iseo-Edolo line on TSW6 would present a unique challenge for drivers, combining high speed on the plains, scenic driving with lake views, and negotiating the steep slopes of the Camonica Valley. The line, featuring single-track diesel traction and distinctive Italian signaling, offers an authentic driving experience and breathtaking views, perfect for inaugurating TSW6's Italian routes.
