I had to save and resume a Journey run on MSB yesterday evening, so not unexpectedly came to a grinding halt at a red signal outside the terminating station. Non moving AI train with the route set and signalled out across my path. Jumped into 8 view, moved up the line and sure enough train sat there with green signal but tailights on leading end, driver in cab in cloud cuckoo land. On a hunch though, I was able to clip inside the cab and found I could operate the controls without having to relinquish my own train 1500 metres away. Pan up, circuit breaker in, brakes off, direction forward with some trepidation advanced the throttle and - whoosh train took off like a bat out of hell. Returned to my own train and once the AI passed, got the signal and able to finish the run. Not saying it will work in every situation, especially where there are multiple trains stood or the signals are red, but for a simple stand off worth a try rather than abandoning the run.
Nice to know. Yes used to free cam into oncoming train cabs on WSR to turn their head lamps on. Whilst waiting to depart.
A grill element in my oven broke down this morning. I called a couple of companies to have it repaired in the same day but their business model does not allow them to say prices until someone assesses the oven. I told them I am sure it´s just the grill and they refused invoking they can guarantee that the oven will work if they come with just that part and that none of their staff is willing to make a repair without an assessment. They don´t trust my assessment but I must trust theirs and accept whatever price they come up with. I ended up buying the part and I will put it in myself even if I need to wait until Monday. Way cheaper anyway. The morale? Capitalism makes one go back in time by having to know a bit of everything in order to advance and survive when problems arise and in general as well. I thought that times of Einstein and Aristotle where they knew everything are gone because now there are so many things to know, but no. We need to have a wide knowledge otherwise we will be told made up reasons about why things should work they way a business model wants them to work and now in a very simple and common sense way. So, it´s up to us to make them work. Be it like you did, improvements through the ini file, making suggestions and hoping they get noticed, spotting and reporting wrong rolling stock for the route and then listening to how the project lead tells you they are the same, etc.
