My VW locos seem not to be working. Before you jump in, yes I have read the manual. Yes, I can drive BMG/Meshtools locos in advanced mode without any trouble. What is happening is that suddenly the regulator stops responding, either to keyboard or mouse input, just stuck on 0% no matter what. This can happen just a couple of minutes into a scenario. Off top of my head I've seen it on at least the 57xx pannier, the 4575 prairie and the 14xx. It seems to be all of them though. Anyone else have this problem? Am I missing something? Is there some genuine reason why something I am doing is breaking the regulator? Also I could not see a contactme section on their website, do they frequent here?
Yes, you are right. I have most of those locos if not all of them. I haven't had the issue that you are talking about as far as I can remember as it is quite some time since I have driven any of them. From memory, these are one of the few locos that you can get a driver error for not opening the steam cocks when you first move off. Maybe this is what is causing your problem. I shall have a look at mine when I get the chance.
Oh I did that a couple of times. Your train explodes and the scenario ends. Not the issue here I'm running a validation on my TSC install to see if that uncovers anything...
OK I did a fresh install of all the VW DLC I have. Before doing anything else I ran a career scenario for a 4575 that comes with their own DLC, not workshop or third party. I pull train forward a few metres, close the regulator, put the brakes on and fill tank with water from tower. And that's it. Can't move the train again because the regulator does nothing. I'm starting to think this is might be getting triggered by using the T key, here for water but for passengers also. I'll experiment some more.
I think I have figured it out. The physics of these things in advanced is a bit iffy in that you have to have the right headcode set for the length of your consist, or running light. In most VW stuff you can change the headcode ingame, but the small prairies you cannot. With a 4575 it is fixed by the loco number in the scenario. So if you swap in without adjusting the loco number it behaves erratically. It also makes those small prairies awful in scenarios where you mix up running light and pulling a load ie shunting, which is a bit unfortunate. I need to go and check but i think the trouble with their own carreer scenario is the loco might be set up with a consist headcode but starts it running light. It might be that you can end up going nowhere.
I was just testing on a couple of career scenarios that come with them for the Riviera Route in the 50s and it worked fine. I had another go in advanced mode with no issues. This was driving the Large Prairie
