    What do we want?
Something something Austria something something RailJet something something Vienna-Linz or something in the mountains something something RailJet---!!

We can't get that... Apparently... rude...
Okay I will think about something myself.
But first I want to mention that I really dislike the sound of the DB BR182 in TSW2. Hope it sounds better/realistic in TSW3. I mean, the Austrian OeBB Taurus is an ES 64 U4. While the German DB BR182 is an ES 64 U2. Yes, it sounds so crappy in TSW2 that I looked it up. Then I went to Youtube for some sound testing and noticed... The German one does sound very similar to the Austrian one. But not like how it sounds in the game. Please fix that at least!

    *ahem*
Because this game also seems to cover subways...
    Hear me out...

I present to you the subway line U6 of Vienna (Austria)!
Which is very different from all other subway lines. Well, I mean, we also have an area here that we call U-STRAB. That's when a tram goes underground. It's very confusing to the Germans that come here to steal the slots at our universities. From "Why is this subway so slow?" to "An underground tram? XD" we get everything. :P But that's not related with the U6, so we forget for now that I was even talking about it.

    History
The U6 is the successor of the Stadtbahn that got introduced in the late 19th century, though most of the Stadtbahn stations got inherited by the U4.

The U6 uses many of the old stations from back then, and also it comes with a twist... Most of the stations of the U6 aren't even underground, but on a bridge. Also, it uses overhead wiring instead of electrified rails, and as only Viennese subway line it doesn't have an LZB but gets driven manually, while just relying on more signaling.
The maximum slope is 45% and the maximum speed 80kmph (~50mph).

    Map / Geography / Connections
The track is 17.339km (10.563mi) in length and goes from all the south to nearly all the north of Vienna. Together the line has 24 stations and got opened as U6 in 1989.
Because it's as said mostly overground, and even raised (the rails are on a bridge) there are a lot of things to see between Floridsdorf (21st district, Floridsdorf) and Siebenhirten (23rd district, Liesing).

The U6 connects important transportation nodes, like the Badner Bahn at the station Bahnhof Meidling. Which is also a big railway station and something DTG could work with in the future. Heck, maybe DTG even gives us the Badner Bahn at some point...? <3
Bahnhof Meidling serves long-distance trains, regional trains and five S-Bahn lines.

The U6 also connects with the Westbahnhof, which is one of the main railway stations, that serves S-Bahn and long-distance trains. Westbahnhof serves 11 railway tracks. Connects to U3 and U6, to five tram lines, four nightbus lines, and Flixbus (intercity bus).

Between Handelskai and Floridsdorf the U6 can have a head-to-head race with the S-Bahn, as these rails are parallel to it on a different bridge, while for example crossing the Danube river.

After crossing the Danube river the U6 will end at Floridsdorf, which is another big railway service station. Despite it being very far up to the north, Floridsdorf station is in comparison pretty young and thus doesn't get considered as Nordbahnhof.
Floridsdorf station servers a regional trains and regional express train, that also connect with the Czech Republic. Floridsdorf station also serves five S-Bahn lines.
It connects with four tram lines, five bus lines, three nightbus lines, and seven regional bus lines.

Historic station Burggasse, the U6 goes below the city library here, and will go back overground after Westbahnhof (the next station).

    Historic station Währinger Straße.

...Unique Alterlaa station, in front of a... housing test that got aborted at decades ago. Most houses in Vienna have around 6 floors and we consider that already as high density.

    Spittelau station
    [IMG]

Below Spittelau the brown U6 meets the green U4 again (remember the station Länenfeldgasse?). It's also another node to connect with railway services.

    Trains
The "old" U6, that went online in 1989, was heterogenly (is this even a word) put together:
    Type E6 + Type C6 + Type T + Type C6 + Type E6
(out of service, sadly. I really liked it. ...DTG, please?? *cat eyes*)

    Type E6 data:
    Manufacturer: Bombardier-Rotax
    Year(s) of manufacture: 1979-1985 (first series, 4900-4945)
    1990 (second build series, 4946-4948)
    Axle formula: B'2'B' (c6: 2'2'2')
    length: 19,700 mm - 775.590 in
    height: 3,239 mm - 127.519 in
    width: 2,305 mm - 90.748 in
distance between pivots: 6,000 mm - 236.220 in
    Empty mass: 28,500 kg - 40,785.42 lbs
    Maximum speed: 65 km/h - 41 mph
    Traction power: 2 × 190 kW = 380 kW
    Acceleration: 1 m/s2
    Seating capacity: 31
    Standing room: 72
    Floor height: 897 mm - 35.314in
(I don't know what American unit to use to convert to... hope it's okay like that.)

As said, the E6 isn't in service anymore. Would be so cool if I could drive that in TSW...heh...
The E6 isn't dead though. It got modded and repainted, and is now living in Poland as tram.

Today we homogenly (I don't know if this is even a word) use the Type T1.

Note that, compared to the Type T, that was the middle part of the Type E6 U6, the T1 is silver instead of white, has a digital location screen and yellow grabpoles. If you ever happen to be in Vienna: If the unit of public transport you're using has yellow grabpoles, it has aircon.
It's hot outside? Feel like dying? Well for only 1€ per day you can sit in public transport vehicles as long as you want... Just don't eat, drink or smoke.

    Type T1 data:
    Manufacturer: Bombardier
    Length: 26.8 m
    Width: 2,65 m
    Axle formula: Bo'1'1
    Track gauge: 1435 mm
    Height: 3,65 m
    Seating capacity: 57
    Standing room: 136
    Empty weight: 37,6 t
    boarding height: 440 mm
    Maximum speed: 80 km/h - 50 mph
    Voltage: 750 V =
    Power supply: Overhead line

TSW 3 Austrian Metro route. Your suggestion shares Wien Westbahnhof and Wien Meidling with my Suggestion Wesbahn SFS Salzburg Wien Freight Salzburg Gnigl Wien Kledering. Train protection wise U6 U-Bahn Wien LZB and Sifa unlike the Wien S-Bahn PZB LZB Sifa Mainline OBB Trains and Deutsche Bahn. By the way, do you seem to be from Austria or not?

It's possible that nowadays with only Type T1 in service it got upgraded with an LZB. I don't know. But I'm pretty sure that back then when the Type E6 was still in service it had no LZB, as it didn't have LZB wiring on the rails. And since then... well, I have for years now no reason IRL to use the U6.

    I'm from Vienna, yes.

A very entertaining suggestion. I’m not sure it would get made for TSW (although it would be nice) but a good read nevertheless.

stopping here to bump up this thread :D ... U6 is just magical... if you want to see a lot of Vienna basically for free, just hop on U6 and enjoy the views :) ... also, Spittelau, Handelskai, Floridsdorf, so much going on there :) ... and Badner Bahn, oh man, that would burn computers down with so much unique assets lol... DTG, some Viennese content, plllls :)))
