So, I've recently come back from a trip to Washington, D.C. to see the museums and monuments, and during my fortnight-long stay, I've heard plenty of VRE trains running on the lines, as my hotel was super close to L'Enfant Plaza. So, that got me thinking... Why not make it for TSW? Route Map While DTG would likely limit the route map to the Fredericksburg Line from D.C. to Spotsylvania, I feel that there's definitely room for the Manassas Line to Broad Run as well, which converges with the Fredericksburg Line at Alexandria. This route features a mixture of suburbs, small towns, and of course the big city of DC, including the iconic Union Station. Rolling Stock VRE exclusively operates a fleet of MPI MP36PH-3Cs on the line, with passenger services operated with a consist of Sumitomo/Nippon Sharyo bi-level cars. On some services, these trains use two MP36PH-Cs, but most use just one. I also think there could be options for Amtrak services, as several named trains - namely Cardinal, Crescent and Northeast Regional run on both lines in this route as part of their journeys. If DTG ever gets around to making the P42DC for TSW, this would be an ideal route to feature it on - I saw several in action at L'Enfant during my time in DC!
Excellent idea overall and speaking of the Cresent an Amfleet II café car is always coupled to the viewliner I & IIs I have a video of it in Newark Penn
A potential DLC extension for this route could include some of the other locomotives and stock VRE has operated on this route over the years; This would include EMD F40PHs, GP40s, RP39s and RP40s, plus Pullman Coaches.
