I am a wheelchair user with cerebral palsy and have difficulty with reading in general. The tutorial on TSW4 (PC version) has both subtitles and a voice over, and it is the voice over that really helps me to understand what actions to take in the game. My question is: Is there a way to be able to enable a voice over during the scenario gameplay, rather than just the subtitles with directions? At the moment, I am reliant on support staff reading the words out for me.
Unfortunately no scenarios and/or special timetable runs have voiceovers. Perhaps you could get someone in the meantime to read the text for you, or try your absolute best. DTG could maybe try to use text-to-speech generators on all their other subtitle'd services/scenarios, so people could listen to the text being read. I'm sorry, but I hope you enjoy the game anyway so far.
They did have it before but then decided to stop using it for Scenarios being difficult to edit if needed to
For their very first, tsw release, they used to have voiceovers during scenarios. But now, due to how quickly game development moves and things can be changed last minute, rerecording a scenario turned out to be unsustainable which is why you don't really see it. I think a best solution is for dtg to implement a text to speed accessibility option
I don't think it is too much to ask for them to add a voice assistant to the game. Minecraft has a narrator that will narrate blocks and chat, I think it is something that might be worth looking into at some point.
Going to tag DTG Matt in this one as I know he's very big on looking at accessibility stuff especially in this kind of area
I think Matt is looking into Artificial Intelligence for voiceovers. They are definitely looking at options for this
