buy yourself this set of beautiful Metro-Cammell Mk1 based Pullman coaches, still in excursion service today: https://www.precision-loco.co.uk/br-mk1-met-cam-pullmans just got mine, along with more GWR milk and express wagons from PLD, which from all angles look wonderful. GWR is really getting top treatment, with so many locomotives, carriages, wagons and routes available, in development or available through backdating current routes. Edit: the Pullman's came without QD, and I don't know the typical make up of a Pullman train. Any prototype info on this?
the other thread got removed. Thanks for the info on the Pullman's. Last stand for luxury travel for the upper classes? Or were these carriages designed for special night trains, excursion service right from the start? The article didn't state their purpose regarding general travel. Mk1 body shell, with the distinct curved sides, but straight end sections and doors? Seems these carriages were considered obsolete quickly and condemned when more comfortable Mk2 with air conditioning came in use. Anyway, the PLD models look very nice inside and out and I will create a few consists to be pulled by mainline excursion steam locomotives
There were Pullman trains on the Eastern Region in the late Gresley Pacific early Deltic years e.g. Queen of Scots, Tyne-Tees Pullman others were used after the demise of the regular ER services on the WR as stand ins for the WR's Met - Cam diesel Pullman sets, usually hauled by a Castle as all of the diesels were already heavily scheduled and so there were no spares. The South Wales Pullman being an example. We old gits have our uses.
All Pullman Cars have Flat Inward Opening doors from those in the 1890 to the BR Mk2 Stock built for the WCML Electrics Those on the WCML survived until 1985 and now are found in excursion train use. As John said above they started life on the Eastern and Western regions it was the introduction of Mk2 Air-Cond stock that saw their demise. In later life the coaches have found use in excursion service and a few as a lounge coach on the overnight Sleeper trains A bit more info here with trains listed in the article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pullman_train_(UK)
my rendition of the Yorkshire Pullman 1L34 ca 1970 TSC could use an up-to-current-standards model of the Class 55 "Deltic"
There's a slightly cosmetically upgraded version in the BR Blue Diesel Pack. Might be the IHH model actually, but I've not looked closely. Obviously in that pack it only comes in plain old Rail Blue, with none of the Finsbury Park Specials or original BR green added. That in itself might be closer to a decade old than up to current standards though.
The Deltic is from the VP pack, but there are several as the pack represents the preserved Deltics, hence some modern features. And in the QD Editor window they all look alike, with all the scripted add-ons overlaying each other, making choosing the right one difficult. However, the manual has clear pictures of the variations and I have since changed the consist. I used a portion of the ECML (KX-Peterborough) backdated to the BR era, but for the single photo found it difficult to find a photogenic spot, with the train sun lit in a curve, allowing a view along the whole consist against a nice background to show the new PLD carriages off at their most favourable.
