We already have 2 NEC routes in the game (3 if you include the forgotten nec new york) but all of them are modern day. This proposal would see an older depiction of Amtrak and this busy corridor that is already in ts classic in the modern era. Route The section from Baltimore Penn to Washington Union is 56km/35 miles long and served by MARC and Amtrak. At the time Conrail freight ran down it too. Stations are as follows: Baltimore Penn West Baltimore Halethorpe BWI Airport Odenton Bowie State (Junction to Pope Creek Subdivision) Seabrook New Carrollton (Junction to Landover Subdivision) Washington Union There is also a large yard at New Carrolton and an amtrak storage facility at Odenton. Services Conrail Conrail ran services on the Landover Subdivision and Pope Creek Subdivision. Trains going in and out, mostly running between the 2, ran along the northeast corridor. Empty Conrail trains can go into the yard at New Carrolton. Amtrak Amtrak services mostly ran fast between the two stops stopping only at BWI and New Carrollton. Diesel services, particularly long sleeper trains, also depart from Union Station but these branch off before New Carrollton and probably wouldn't be drivable. MARC MARC ran commuter services out of Union Station to Baltimore (and further to Perryville on some services) as well as the Brunswick and Camden lines. Camden Line I also think that the Camden line should be included. This is a MARC operated 39 mile unelectrified line between Union Station and Camden with a top speed of 70mph. Stations are: Washington Union Riverdale College Park Greenbelt Muirkirk Laurel Laurel Racecourse (Request Stop) Savage Jessup (Request Stop) Dorset St Denis (Request Stop) Camden Trains Amtrak/MARC AEM7 The AEM7 was in use on Amtrak Express services and in push-pull MARC services on the Penn line. The Amtrak locos used Amfleet 1s while the MARC locos used MARC I and MARC II cars with MARC 11A and 11B Cab Cars. They have a top speed of 125mph. MARC EMD GP40WH-2 These were used on Camden line services. Their rolling stock was the same MARC I and II with cab cars. MARC GP39H-2 Used as spare locomotives, could run occasional passenger services. Conrail EMD GP40 Ran on freight services on the line coming out of the subdivisions mentioned earlier. Dtg could also add the Popes Creek Subdivision line up to Collington Sidings. This would add something more to Conrail Freight services. Nb: in general, cab cars face towards Washington Scenarios Rare blue one - Drive a Conrail GP40 into Union Station from Collington Sidings for some work on the station. Commuting at 125 - Take this evening MARC AEM7 from Washington to Baltimore while skipping some stations due to maintainence. Camden Cab Car - Drive this MARC I cab car to Camden, the train is the wrong way round! Rescue Operation - an AEM7 has failed at BWI, take this GP39H-2 from Baltimore to the train then take it to Odhenton for repairs. Amtrak Thunderstorms - Take this AEM7 from Baltimore - Washington while keeping to a 75mph speed limit in most areas due to flooding. Camden Special? - The Camden line is closed between Camden and Laurel, so take this GP40WH-2 to Laurel and drive the return with the MARC I cab car. Speeding to Washington - Drive this Amtrak AEM7 non-stop between Baltimore and Washington, keeping an eye on the signals for a delayed MARC service in front. Conrail drag part 1 - with the GP40, drag 3 other GP40s from North Carollton to Collington Sidings, then put all 4 locomotives in the right place to haul a huge freight train to Morgantown. Conrail drag part 2 - you are preparing to leave but a radio has come through. A MARC GP40WH-2 has failed at Odenton. Rescue the train using one of the GP40s in the siding, bring it to Odenton to repairs, then head back to Collington in time for departure.
