This route would be the northern portion of the WCML north of Carlisle, travelling into Scotland and into the famous Glasgow Central station. Route length: ~100 miles Stations: Carlisle Lockerbie Carstairs Lanark Carluke Wishaw Sheildmuir Motherwell Bellshill Uddingston Newton Cambuslang Rutherglen Glasgow Central Time period: It is important that this route uses the same timetable as JT's upcoming route, so players will seamlessly be able to drive the same service from Preston all the way to Glasgow Central. Rolling stock: Class 87: Much like on JT's upcoming route, this locomotive would run express services along the full length of the route, hauling MK3 & MK2 coaches. This loco would also be driveable on freight. Class 303: This EMU would be used on commuter services towards the north of the route (Glasgow area). It would be supplied in 2 liveries: BR blue & grey, and Strathclyde orange & black. Class 314 This EMU would again operate stopping services in Glasgow, and would provide a different experience to the class 303. Class 47: The class 47 would also appear on the route for freight and passenger duties. It could either be included in the pack or layered from other add-ons. Other potential rolling stock or layers: JT's upcoming class 86 could also be seen operating on the route, I assume on the same services as the class 87. I wasn't alive at the time so I don't know if it ran on this route, but a class 37 in BR blue would be quite nice. The class 142 and 101 would be seen at Carlisle for AI services. Unique aspects of the route which make it different from other routes: - First cross border England/Scotland route - Many Intercity services split at Carstairs with a separate portion running to Edinburgh, which would make for some interesting shunting. - The class 303 makes for an experience driving old British EMUs, something I feel is missing from TSW at the moment. I'd like to thank all that spent their time reading my suggestion .
Interesting, I do have a question over this era in general. That is, did they use safety systems back then in the UK? Like AWS and TPWS?
Heard the bell going off in the live stream Livvu, and acknowledged by the operator/driver.DSD Introduction mid 1950's Aws, should be there also. I spent most of the time watching the 87
I imagine it would be on top of the list for many Concorde. Be happy to see it also. There's a big but though. Honestly I was thinking,I'd like to see them (JT) do maybe Metropolitan line for example.Or indeed put their obvious talent to somewhere else.Something they could get out the door in six months. With wide appeal. My worry is that,I don't know how well the P to C wcml is going to sell. After 11 months in the works,it needs to sell well. Do the the younger generation even like the old stuff, honestly don't have any idea. When I was younger, all I was interested in, was the latest thing,as I've aged I've a wider appreciation for railways;1880's to present day is fine by me. Then come back to wcml, to finish it off for us.
Well, I'm from the "younger generation" and I can safely say that I'll be enjoying Preston to Carlisle for a while. The Metropolitan line is also something I'd love to see.
are there any significant routes that the class 303 would appear in and be driveable to make it worth adding into the game? Sorry for my lack of knowledge I really don't know where this class operates. Edit: I completely forgot the 314 is a thing
It mostly operated around Glasgow, so lines such as the Inverclyde, Argyle and Cathcart Circle lines, until they were withdrawn in 2002. I think some 303s operated in Manchester as well.
Great minds think alike. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/glasgow-central-to-carlisle-jt-style.86413/
I'd love this. If the freightliner hub was included it would be incredible. Perhaps ending it a little before glasgow central would make it more do-able though, since I feel terminating at a main station with 90+ miles of track might be asking a bit much. If it did go to glasgow central, despite the era split, being able to run from Blackpool all the way to leven with route hopping would be quite the achievement. It would really make the game feel more complete having a vast stretch of somewhat connected track.
