For many players of TS over the years, the West Coast Main Line routes have become beloved by the community, and offer heavy traffic, scenic beauty, and plenty of high speed operations. With the historic city on the north end of the route, busy Lancaster to the south, and the formidable Shap incline in between, there's quite a lot of potential variety. Rolling Stock: The Class 390 "Pendolino would form the backbone of high speed passenger service, in Avanti West Coast livery, plus the special Pride variant. Stopping services could be provided by Class 350s or Class 185s respectively. In terms of freight, the return of the Class 66 would be fine, but a new Freightliner Class 70 would be fantastic. When steam arrives, Carnforth will make an excellent starting point for railtours. Alternatively, turn back the clock to the 1980s on the route, and feature the Class 86/87 electrics, the Class 47, and possibly the Class 150 DMU.
I'd love to see this with the Morecambe/Heysham Port and Windermere branches, they'd add so much with the Northern services on the branch lines, perhaps with a 195 or 158. I think TPE used 350s on this route before the 397s came. Maybe an extension to Preston and recreate the WCML Over Shap? Might be pushing it for length but there aren't many stations.
