The Glasgow - Carlisle railway line is a line set in the north west of England and southern part of Scotland. It is a part of the 400 mile west coast mainline, an arterial line that links London with the north west. The Glasgow- Carlisle section of this route is an 84 mile long route (136km for non brits) which makes it adequate for train sim world. The stations on this line include Carlisle, Lockerbie, Carstairs, Carluke, Wishaw, Sheildmuir, Motherwell, Newton and Glasgow Central. Now for the rolling stock. Default rolling stock should include: Class 390 pendolino's Class 220/221 Voyagers Class 801s (LNER)(DLC) Class 397s(DLC) Class 350 Desiro Class 380s(DLC) Class 314s(layered in w cathart circle line) There should also be a scenario set in the late 70s for the APT and BR electrics (DLC) ran out of ideas.. any rolling stock suggestions add it to the thread
This merged with Cathcart would be beautiful Interesting choice of rolling stock there, my picks would be: 390 Pendolino (Avanti WC) 397 Civity (TPE) 380 Desiro (ScotRail) DLC: 221 Voyager (Avanti WC) 350 Desiro (TPE, would need to come with a backdated timetable prior to the 397s entering services) Layers: 314 would keep exclusively on Cathcart services, the Lanark services would be 380 exclusive I'm afraid
Thanks, glad to hear my format of splitting your rolling stock choices into base trains, DLC and layers like in my threads for example, has worked, again, thanks for the feedback
Yes yes yes please!!!!! P.S: I would pay £100 for a class 380. It's my favourite train in the whole wide world. A class 390 is also near the top of the list!
A dlc Caledonian pack (78 and 83 (I think( along with Mark 5 coaches) - a must have other then that good suggestion
it's a busy route too. appeals to everyone. 390s that call at motherwell, lockerbie and carlisle, 380s/397s doing semifast, 380 commuter+ freight and an APT dlc
The APT themed DLC would be a Diesel Legends esque expansion pack for this route, it might not fit the era like DLOTGW but still, you'd get your APT so it's a win win
In the modern day, no because the APT doesn't run IRL, the only surviving APT is a half-set at the Crewe Heritage Centre and that doesn't go out onto the mainline sadly, it would make more sense to have the APT in a separate timetable with stock (already in-game) from the era the APT ran along the WCML as stand-ins for 86s or 87s (if they're not made for TSW by the time this route could be released)
Freight Class 70 diesel Electric freight and sleeper train run Class 92. Without the Class 92 locomotive, how are you going to run the 23:40 Glasgow Central to Carlisle Trip on the Caledonian Sleeper?
WCML South London Euston to Birmingham New Street for 2023 Core Update with Unreal 5.1 Release and its a huge route would be TSW's longest route and dont say its out of reach because of how long it is a update to unreal 5 would give more memory to the game and way smoother gameplay and better details all the signs are pointing to this route for future so lets hope it happens sorry but WCML North sounds bit zzz
Uhhhh....are we just forgetting the ridiculous amount of scenary on wcml South..... long routes are rarely done not for the length but for the amount of scenary - a wcml would take 5 months atleast considering you have to model an entire overground line then the suburbs of London the towns and cities and then even brum and possibly Northampton - skw is mostly fields and tunnels and has few stations - wcml South isn't the same.
Hey can I suggest 802's or 397's for ntp aswell - they run on the wcml North bit from Glasgow I belive
802s - are rare on Glasgow-Manchester Airport services, they're more common on Edinburgh Manchester Airport services once or twice a week at most 397s - he has already suggested the 397 for TPE so yeah Would these fit on NTP? 397s - No, does NTP feature the WCML, no, NTP would require an extension around to Oxford Road or Piccadilly and in modern day too 802s on the other hand - they serve the modern day route of NTP so 802s are better off on a modern version of NTP Hope this clears things up for you
Class 380: Glasgow Central to Edinburgh Waverly via Carstairs (only going as far as Carstairs before going out of bounds. Class 380: Glasgow Central to Lanark Caledonian Sleeper: Glasgow Central to London Euston. (All stops to Carlisle).
Yea, that's what I ment. I was just pointing out what service it would run if it was in the route. Dlc or not.
It depends what era it is set in. Personally I'd love a Class 380 but I'd choose a Class 385 over a Class 320 or a Class 318.
