the Argyle route ,class 86 electric . why cant i achieve speed over 25 mph. Starts off well then gradually slows down. My motherboard is a Asus Prime B360M-A.with 16gb ram.Intel core i5-8400 @2.80 GPU.. Graphics AMD Radeon HD 7850. With latest AMD Driver on board. Is this a software or hardware problem ,help would be most appreciated. Actually have discovered have same problem on all electric trains.
The trains with "tap changers" drive differently to newer trains (which do tap changing automatically) I would suggest looking at "how to drive the class 86" videos on youtube which show you how to drive these units. They're actually some of the best units to drive when you get the hang of them
ronald.balneaves you asked the same question in a different thread - https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/electrified-lines.28414/ Read Answer #4 in that thread and watch this Video
That may well be it. So then wind down the tap changer to zero, let the needles drop to the floor then start again
Actually... scratch that. The neutral sections don#'t work on WCML North... I was thinking of WCMLoS. Must just be a case of not used to tap changing.
I reckon he's just mashing the "A" key, putting it into run up, and then it just faults on him due to excess amps.
I think we are wasting our time here. This is the second thread by the OP on the same subject and he has been given two guides on driving the 86/87.
Well what can I say . Actually what is the OP REFERENCE? I find your comments most distasteful as if you are referring to a non entity. I assumed when one was asking for advice regardless of age gender or ethnic ,one would receive an answer in a simple honest way. Comments were posted in a non warm friendly way .Actually the comments come across as a couple of know alls who have a problem with novices!! So please I took note of your unhelpful replies so please leave my discussion. thank you for nothing.
Saying to go look at a youtube video IS a simple way of answering, Posting the video itself in the comments IS a simple way of answering Some of the other comments? Well... you might have a point
Why open two threads on the same subject when post 4 on your first thread gave you the information that you needed in a simple, honest way. You failed to acknowledge that post or even answer my reply to my post #2 where I asked you which route and loco you were referring to. Had you been more specific in your original questions, it would have helped us to help you, instead of us having to guess as to what your problem was. I note that you have not thanked those who have tried to help you. We are a friendly group here as evidenced by the posts that have tried to help you and others here. You'll also find the novice, gender, race or ageist card game is not played here. FYI, OP is short for Original Poster. I'm sure we all hope you have now learned how to drive and enjoy the Class 86.
While I can't speak for everyone, the video that was linked to in here is probably the best advice you could have got. It will show you how to drive the 86. Like I said, seeing as there are no neutral sections on WCML North, I think you're driving it by just pressing A. This, on a 86 or 87 (and a few others) will move the power handle all the way to "run up", which will continuously tap up. This is only to be used when at speed. When pulling away, you need to move the power handle to "hold", then give short "taps" to "A" and each tap will notch the power up one step at a time. Watch the ammeters carefully. Don't let them get more than about two thirds of the way into the yellow section (much less if wet or cold, or you'll wheel slip). If you run it all the way towards red, you'll trip it, and then you have to reset everything. That's obviously what's happening. Watch the video.. it makes it clear. Also, if you go to your manuals folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Manuals\EN you'll find a document called "Driving a Class 86.pdf" which is the written instructions. Also... acknowledging people when they reply to you in order to help is generally considered the polite thing to do... Even if it's just a simple "Thanks". If once you get used to it, if you like driving the class 86, I can highly recommend the Armstrong Powerhouse Enhancement pack for it... although it does make it a little harder (although more realistic) to drive. It also makes the cab look a LOT better.
While I'm here screen grabbing stuff... Outside textures are MUCH better too.. and the sound is also perfect.. utterly perfect. So, yeah... I hope that goes some way to making you feel less like no one cares. It was because you didn't respond, despite making two separate threads and sounding rather desperate for an answer. Usually when that happens, ESPECIALLY when it's someone's first post, (indicating that they joined just to get an answer to a question) then people get a bit miffed that they took the time to answer, find links etc... only to have no acknowledgement in return.
I changed my AP Class 86 locos because I don't like the Fake reflection you see all the time in the windows. You see a refection of the inside of the can but the angles are wrong and you don't see the reflection on a cloudy day. Which reminds me to do the same with the Class 158 Peter
