Yes it's an old route but first time I've run this Career scenario. On several occasions I was getting pinged with Operational Error and losing 100 points each time. On referring to the log it is showing missed stops at Hardendale and Harrisons Down Main. This is an error as a Class One express would not be stopping here, they appear to be information pop up triggers which have been mistakenly shown as a calling point. This makes it impossible to complete this scenario with a perfect score. The timings into Penrith following a freight train are also too tight. While it's a forlorn hope, it would be nice if the scenario could be officially corrected - as it's a Career one the end user can't change the parameters.
I've just checked and have the full 1,000 point with this- don't recall any issues. Maybe something isn't installed properly.
Thanks for reminding me to play this beautiful Keith Ross route again. And yes you are right on some points. I found the timings to be manageable, I've made all stops in time and yet failed the scenario. I loaded it into the editor and I saw a design flaw - the go via instructions are set to minimum speeds which you cannot know when playing. If you do not pass some with at least 60 mph for example you'll fail this instruction. Good scenario design is setting the player go via's to 1 mph, and use minimum speeds for AI only (who in that case will try to stick to that exact speed). This may be a left over from scenario beta testing, he might've just forgotten to reset those speeds. Edit: You can clone the scenario and correct the MinSpeeds (set them to 1mph). If you want to succeed in the original scenario, I've extracted the GoVia's MinSpeeds required for each waypoint in this scenario. Driving slower through any of them will make the scenario fail in the end. Hest Bank HABD is problematic because you'll encounter a Red Signal but are required to pass the GoVia at 50 mph. That's where I failed without noticing because I didn't check F1 task list. So make sure to slow down before that so when you see the signal go yellow you can apply full power and manage to have at least 50 mph passing the waypoint. 15 Preston North Junc Up Slow 40 Oxheys Down Main 50 Barton and Broughton Down Main 60 Brock LC Down Main 60 Bay Horse Down Main 60 Galgate Viaduct Down Main 60 Oubeck Down Main 20 Lune Viaduct Down Main 50 Hest Bank HABD 50 Carnforth Down Main 30 Milnthorpe Down Main 10 Oxenholme Down Main 60 Dockray Viaduct Down Main 60 Grayrigg Down Main 60 Low Gill HABD 60 Borrow Viaduct Down Main 60 Tebay Down Main 60 Birkbeck Viaduct Down Main 60 Scout Green Down Main 50 Shap Summit Down Main 60 Hardendale Down Main 60 Harrisons Down Main 40 Bessie Ghyll Down Main 40 Eden Valley Down Main 40 Lowther Viaduct Down Main 20 Eamont Viaduct Down Main 60 Plumpton Dn Main 60 Southwaite Down Main 30 Upperby Bridge Junc Dn Main 40 Etterby Bridge Dn Main 50 Kingmoor Dn Main 10 Gretna Caley Dn Main
Thanks Torfmeister, makes sense now. I finished with 800 points but still "failed" obviously due to running under the expected speed, which I didn't know was even a thing in TS scenario creation. Not to worry, I've moved on to another route now, maybe I'll return and try this one again in the future.
I've uploaded a patch for this scenario removing the MinSpeeds. Note that you'll get a warning "Unable to load scenario.bin" message. This can be ignored and is normal when you're modifying DLC Career scenarios. Press F2 then Cancel, the scenario will work and will properly award you your score. Just drag the included "Content" folder to your RailWorks folder.
Maybe, if you leave Lancaster late and keep your speed low you can avoid the red signal at Hest and pass at >50 mph. If you have to stop there you've already failed.
