Introduction Hello and welcome back to another suggestion. Today I am suggesting a route that would be modern day, cross border, mainline, with a good mix of stopping services and high speed runs. This route will be very scenic and a good fun route for players to do. The Route This is a 90 mile route going from Preston to Dumfries and Carlisle. This is a cross border and very scenic line which will introduce a new operator with two new trains and plenty of good opportunities for DLC. Drive through the lake District and Pennines at high speed in TrainSimWorld4 West Coast Mainline Over-Shap Preston - Carlisle & Dumfries. Rolling Stock Class 390 Pendolino AWC 11 car and 9 car sets Class 156 Super Sprinter (Scotrail and Northern Livery) Class 66 Direct Rail Services + RHTT LAYERS & EWS freight Layers: Northern Class 323 Class 47 Flying Scotsman ROG Class 37 (class 156 coupler) Stations CARLISLE - PRESTON Carlisle Penrith North Lakes Oxenholme Lake District Lancaster Preston CARLISLE - DUMFRIES Dumfries Annan Gretna Green Carlisle LANCASTER TO HEYSHAM (+8 miles) Lancaster Bare Lane Morecambe Heysham Port Timetable 90 Trains Per Day between Dumfries and Carlisle including Frieght, Depot and normal running scotrail services. 170 Trains Per Day between Carlisle and Preston including Freight trains and Avanti West Coast. [Any voyager services will be substituted as a pendolino in game.] Conclusion Thanks for reading this suggestion. I hope you liked it. This is a route I'd very much like to see in TSW and I hope you agree with me. The class 156 in saltire Livery is my local train and the line via Dumfries is my local train line. Part of the reason I'd like to see it. This line also features part of the WCMl, one of the most highly requested routes for tsw. The line follows the scenic lake District area. This is a beautiful line and very fun to drive and I hope to see it in tsw. Let me know what you think below.
Definitely would love to see a proper section of the WCML with either a Pendolino or backdated with the ATP. Adding some of the branches would provide more interest rather than it being simply A to B. Personally I would give preference to the Windermere and Morecambe/Heysham Port branches as they are more logical extensions to the core route. Dumfries is more associated with the Glasgow Southwestern line and would probably be best as a separate route.
Set it in BR Blue era, with a Class 86/87 and I'm sold! It would also give an opportunity to add the best tilting train in the form of the BR Class 370 APT-P to the game as well. Having this beauty in TSW would a dream!
The Glasgow Southwestern Line would be too long to go from Glasgow to Carlisle. Having a branch off the WCMl like this similar to the TSC version is the better option imo. I do agree though. Haysham port branches would be good to see but I think they should go alongside the Dumfries branch and not instead of. Thanks for the feedback.
Completely agree with you here, judging the Heysham/Morecambe branch starts at Lancaster and the Windermere branch starts at Oxenholme, it makes sense to include it and for the Northern 156 to have a purpose on this line. On a separate note, I would like to propose a few DLC suggestions which would benefit this route: Potential DLC: You can't forget this... (The British Rail Class 397 'Civity' in TransPennine Express livery) And for those who are into freight: The British Rail Class 88 'EuroDual' in DRS livery Good suggestion altogether though, I would love a Class 390 in game, means I can drive my favourite UK EMU
Excellent Idea overall and how about the 1970s-1980s with Classes 86-87 370 APT as seen in the TSC version
Yup! Was thinking they'd be nice to have! How long is the Heysham branch? Only reason I didn't include it is because it has a very quiet timetable. EDIT: It's 8 miles. I've included it.
Windmere branch uses Class 195's. Plus the route might be too long with that branch as well. And from what I can tell the Dumfries and Heysham branches are way more scenic
Ah fair enough, I think having it included would be better from a Northern 156 prospective instead of having the Northern 156 for the purpose of the (former) Dumfries-Newcastle service (which was jointly-operated)
I was thinking just a bit of a.i between Lancaster and Carlisle?? It could sub in for the missing northern services operated by other stock. What can I say, I like 156's and thought it would be a good idea to include a northern 156 as well as the scotrail one for a bit more a.i. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Plus that would mean that the 86/87 as well as the APT can layer on the new Blackpool Branches routes but only as AI
I can imagine your thoughts about this, and I got the same route in TSC as well but just because of the scenery and the major graphic improvements of TSW together with the 3D weather patterns, it will be great to have the same route in TSW4. All though the increasment of the amount of controls which become available at the mentioned engine types according to the TSW standards which gave a hugh increase of proffesional driving skills Even more I would like to see the West lines of Scotland as well, expanded with the Scottish Black 5, Clan class and the 9F and a variety of Vans. In your proposal to have the West Highland route I will definitely agree with you, but backdates to the steam era.
I don’t mind the era, as long as we get a high speed tilting electric train. Preston is already a part of the game, so maybe they can work around the station reusing assets
Good suggestion, love how you jnckuded the line to Dumfries but I think it would be better to also go up to Carstairs to connect with that Edinburgh - Glasgow route
I would love that but I would be a bit too long to go all the way from Preston - Carstairs &/or Edinburgh
Preston to Carlisle in the mid-eighties with a mix of 86/87/APT and freight would be a great add-on. Though hopefully after they've addressed the lack of routes in East Anglia and Wales.
