This is the feedback thread for the WCML Preston To Carlisle WCML: Preston - Carlisle Gameplay Guide with layer requirements Please keep all discussions only related to feedback and provide the game platform you are using in any comments for feedback. Thank you!
(I’ll be updating as I go along & I'm on PS5) - First impressions of the 87 are pretty good, although I noticed you have to manually put the power controller back to the hold position instead of it spring in back. If that’s how’s it’s supposed to work that’s fine but I can see that getting a little annoying. - Class 87 textures are a little low resolution -Minor texture flickering - The button binds linking the power controller to the up & down D pad buttons on the controller means you can’t mover the reverser with out moving the power controller inadvertently - (model error) 4th bar incorrectly sticks out of the lower arm of the pantograph, it should always be inside
It would've been nice to see the journey mode have a few different chapters for the 47, 101 and 08 rather than the odd service in a mixed bag. Just showcase a few more of the services and interesting moves.
Wow, fantastic route, just finished the first journey service, a non-stop blast from Carlisle to Preston, despite not noticing a single neutral section in advance and having to reset the pantograph each time, I still coasted into Preston arriving 18 seconds before scheduled time - not bad for first run on an hour long service! On the subject of neutral sections, it would be great if these could show up on the hub, either on the Track Monitor or as some kind of pop up when you pass the warning board. Not sure that's something JT could do or if it would need a change to core, but if the latter then it would also help with routes like LIRR Commuter which has 30+ different signals that I can't make out the differences between as I drive past them. A little pop up for each sign you pass would definitely help on a number of routes.
Great route, detail is amazing, frame rates not brilliant, quite jittery in a lot of places, but hopefully after an update or two, It'll be a lot smoother....on PS5 BTW.
PS5: Class 142 guard/conductor mode doesn't function. When you close the doors, immediately there's 2 buzzes without you doing anything. The train then won't depart and the buzzer makes no sound when pressed. It seems there is a ghost guard because buttons are getting pressed without any interaction from the player.
For ps5 guard mode on the 87 doesent work either there is no button to blow your whistle to make the train depart and usually ends in the train leaving but the blow your whistle prompt staying on screen not allowing you to continue.simalar to what you said about someone doing the job for you which leads to it resulting in an instant service failure once you have used the guard buzzer, making guard mode impossible to play. The rest of the route is amazing love the scenery and the trains, however it's disappointing that core features aren't working especially when we are paying extra for the route.
Even on the JT stream last night, the train left without him whilst he was playing as the guard (he was wandering around the platform showing things off at the time).
Mastery, on PS5, it says to drive 50 miles / 80 km, I've got the trophy for driving 87 miles but mastery says I've only done 6km.
It was close, but I think the train on which he demonstrated guard mode was pulling away before he blew the whistle. It seems that guard mode consists of checking tickets and sticking your head out the window the rest of the time.
Anyone else having issues with layers not showing for this route? I have the Class 37 and Flying Scotsman installed but they are not appearing in the menu
Played guard mode on a timetable from Lancaster to Morecambe on the 101: - No tickets to check and nog bags to remove (so only buzz and wait till next stop) - At the level crossing in bare lane, cars kept driving and clipped me onto the back of the train. Unable to move after.
Apologies fo butting in, but don't know how to start a thread. I bought Preston to Carlisle from Justtrains. Steam thanked me for activating a a game (via JTs code). Steam says I own the game but no sign of it in either the DLC menu in the steam library nor in the game itself. I assume this is a steam problem. Anyone have any ideas about what I should do ?
The auto announcements for the Pacer say “Salwick” when next stop is Bare Lane. Also the asset used for the church on Lytham Road (Preston) is the Wycliffe (spelt as Waycliffe in game) Church asset on Fylde Road from Blackpool Branches, so looks out of place. Route is immense though, sensation of speed when giving it death in the Class 87 is unreal.
Yeah, just noticed too the Pacer announcements always just say Salwick - even where this service ends/terminates etc. Be good if Carnforth could be added to the destination blinds, although that's a very minor grumble. Everything else so far - Series X - looks and plays just like I knew it would....fantastic !
Hands down, it’s all around the best route I’ve played in a train simulator. Also, great job on the suspension; the way the 87 sways and bounces around while tearing through higher speed curves is awesome.
"Strictly" not this route, but it is a train that comes with it. The new 101 works flawlessly on the West Coast Line. However, it doesn't seem to work at all on the Blackpool Branches, where it's now part of the Timetable. Setting up exactly the same as on West Coast, but the AWS warning never activates, and then the Power throttle does nothing when trying to leave any station. Have tried it on 5 different services but same result each time.
I don't have Tees Valley so never had it on Timetable on Blackpool. This is the new model that released today. Tried it again on Morecambe and it only actually moves in scenario mode on there too, and not on any Timetable service I've tried. Very confused now !
Are you sure you're not missing a step when you're setting up the 101 cab such as AWS change over and AWS on? I've just tried the 101 2 car (Shap) on BPO and it worked fine. The AWS sounded and I could get it moving.
Feel kinda stupid now ! I was indeed missing the AWS change over. Forgot about it as it wasn't in the NTP version. Consider me suitably embarrassed lol !
Is there a change ends lever, under the second engineers seat possibly - vague memory of the stream but hopefully remembering correctly.
Having some crashing issues. 1500 Carlisle to Preston crashed on approach to Preston. one of the northbound runs crashed on arrival at Carlisle. xbox Series S - is this a TSW5 bug? It’s seemingly similar to WCML South issues.
Excellent, the amount of detail and work that has gone into the route is great. I especially like the inclusion of lots of walkable areas, and the machine room of the class 87. I hope we see things like this more often I look forward to buying JT's loco DLC when it releases. Some minor things I noticed: The class 08's appear in formation designer, however they can't be put in a formation with anything else The class 101 does not appear in formation designer The wheels on some of the Mk3 coaches don't spin The Mk 3 coach gangway doors can't be opened manually, it would be nice if these were interactable The Mk 3 coaches don't have any interactable light controls It would be nice if the fuel pumps at Kingmoor Depot and the turntable at Carnforth were usable
"BR Blue doesn't sell" Yeah right, and then there was JT ... From what I've seen so far: Fantastic route, great rolling stock, loooots of layers. Some well know forum member might like this one in particular.
XBOX Series S Timetable service: 16:26 1Z40 London Euston - Edinburgh Waverley Class 47/4 HI LL 2 Crash to desktop when approaching Carlisle station every time.
I've just played a bit of this route and had a look around a few stations but so far it is fantastic. Performance on PS5 seems pretty decent so far (35-45 fps with some drops). The look and feel - immersion of the route are fantastic. The 87 is very engaging to drive which is a different flavour for UK routes (modern UK EMUs are IMO the easiest and least engaging to drive in the entire game). I am sure there are some issues and I will report them as I see them but this route so far lives up to the hype.
Dear Just Trains, *chef's kiss* -Gawd those rheostatics sound so good. Throaty without screaming (unlike my beloved US monsters, which howl like angry banshees). -The D-pad works really well to shift up and down tap positions. (PS5) - I've never really cared for tap throttles. Until now. I've already logged 150 miles and I've gotta peel myself away from the control desk to go do actual tasks.
Driving 2P83 to Morecambe and had barriers raise as I was departing Bare Lane. Cars were driving over the track even though I had green signal
On PS5; Started messing around with spawning loco's in around steamtown next to carnforth. Noticed you can actually plot a path to Windermere using the in game tools. This got me pretty excited as it's one of my favourite branches. Set a route and of I went, just past Oxenholme I hit the "You have left the playable area" screen and was booted back to the main menu. Whilst I'm aware it wasn't advertised on any of the material or streams beforehand, and I know AI services need a place to load in from, I think it's a bit of a shame we are allowed to plot a route to somewhere we can't go... Reminded me of the many lines in Oakville subdivision that were on the map but not accessible in game play. I also wonder if this stretch of line was counted towards the mileage of the route, As, if it's not playable, surely it shouldn't of been... Other than that, I'm having a great time learning the 87, the route itself and finding some of the many obscure details hidden around.
Do you have Tees Valley line? Only the Class 37 from that line can be used on this route. Scotsman I don't know (does it maybe substitute for the Spirit of steam loco?)
Just got it loaded on pc, did the training module for the 87 and it seems ok with a Raildriver. The tap controller with the throttle lever is a bit awkward but can be gotten used to. Would be better if set to the toggle switch.
I gather from the stream yesterday that you need Spirit of Steam for FS to appear (plus FS obviously).
On PC. The wiper (or blade in this case) works when looking out of the cab, but when you go to an external view it is not animated.
When it comes to the old chestnut of restroom immersion, JT are pushing the envelope, not only can you enter cubicles, there's at least one toilet I found (Morecambe Station) that you actually can sit on. JT may have started toiletgate here.
My only wishes for the route (so far), is to have neutral sections shown on the line diagram, and for there to be an internal camera in the engine room, looking at the MCB panel so that we can "simulate" faults without having to leave the driver's seat, also on 1M34 Glasgow-Euston you can't use guard mode as you are hit with a "service failure, guard left train" upon giving the TRTS signal, even if you are sat down. Other than that, a cracking route that has mostly lived up to expectations.
Noticed when you take a seat in first class, it's got the wrong label as it says "standard class" seat.
Just tried it. Like, what I have seen so far. Apart from some core-issues (e.g. "sunken" passengers on the platform) I noticed in my German version (PS5), that at the route introduction and tutorials the voice is as usual in German but the subitles are in English. No problem for me but primarely for documentation.
On PS5: AWS & DSD alarms not coming through controller. Coming through main audio source along with all other sound.
