Enough Waffle, this route is an interesting one, with both passenger intercity, commuter and branch workings, this can provide a lot of play time. Also, the Pendolinos will be able to hit max speeds on 110mph, according to OpenRailwayMap, on this section and tilt (yes, tilt, but the major tilty section is at Linslade just after Leighton Buzzard) Links for Further Info or if you're bored https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avanti_West_Coast https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Midlands_Trains https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Coast_Main_Line
I've had a look and there are freight services that do run along the line. https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/detailed/gb-nr:MKC?stp=WVS&show=all&order=wtt.
There are but the ones used on here are fitted with a Pantograph unlike the 377 already available in game.
Excellent idea and for the returning train from East Coast Way it's a Class 377 in the dual voltage 25kv 50hz 750v DC Third rail Top Contact 377/2 & 377/6 variant. The easy way to make them for WCML is adding a Pantograph to the existing 377/4 ECW/BML therefore turning those into 377/2 377/5 & 377/6. Then the American equivalent to the class 377 the Metro-North M8
I was being Ironic... there are huge freight yards South of Wembley and just about all freight that comes over the North London lines and heads north does so up the WCML But most people who do route suggestions (outside of the US) don't bother putting freight runs in the suggestion
