West Coast Mainline South Extension London Euston -> Rugby via Northampton + WCML Hello everyone, I am suggesting an expansion for the popular WCMLS route in TSW5 (or the future). Today I would like to suggest an extension to Rugby from Milton Keynes, via the Northampton loop line and WCML. This could be something done like SEHS and would make the route more lively and thriving with activity. The route extension would add around 50 miles (rough estimate - as I don't know the area) in total. Area of route/extension: (Up to Rugby) The route would continue of Milton Keynes and up north, with a small total of 4 new stations: Wolverton, Northampton, Long Buckby & Rugby. In addition, the Daventry Rail Terminal can also be added for freight services. Wolverton: Northampton: Long Buckby: Rugby: Daventry Freight Terminal: The extension would be a great idea for many reasons, the 390s will be able to go longer journeys with times being just short of an hour. And LNWR services would have a increase in journey time to just over around 1hr 10 for slow services and less than an hour for fast, and with addition of Freight Services from Daventry Freight Terminal to Wembley rail yard along the WCML for services around 1hr 30. What services are there to be expected? Passenger services consist of Euston to Rugby both via the fast lines on the WCML for Avanti, and slow lines around Northampton for LNWR. Freight Services consist of Daventry Terminal to Wembley Yard using existing stock (Class 66) There would be many AI services skipping Rugby on their way to Birmingham and beyond. What trains are there to be expected? As it's an expansion to the WCMLS route, the 350 and 390 will take up the chunk of the services with the 66 being re-used for freight services. There could be new stock introduced if DTG decide to make new trains. These would be the 805 and 221 taking up services like the Pendolino. There could be new freight trains such as the class 90 in Freightliner taking up services like the 66. The class 90 would also allow for Passenger Railtours in the Intercity colours as seen on the WCML some times with a DVT on the back, with MK3s taking up passenger areas. Class 805: Class 221: Class 90 Freight: Class 90 Passenger: Why have I suggested this then? As of now many can agree that yes the current route is great but it's not what we hoped for. This extension adds many possibilities with us being able to get a good run in the Pendolino and a nice run in the 350. In addition the freight services would make it one of the longest (if not the longest) Freight runs in the UK Scene. The gameplay would add alot to the route and make it feel more lively. With the Freight services, terminals and yards (such as Wembley) would be more active and trainspotting would be great for the community overall. The Guard mode would be amazing especially on long 350 services. Extra videos to showcase the expansion: Overall this extension is very much needed and the community would be benefited very much by this. Hopefully we can see this being a case in the future. Thanks for reading and taking your time to check it out!
I would love seeing the 390's tilting up and past rugby, This part I really want to see come to the game.
It is quite big of an extension but I think it would be do-able rather than going to Birmingham. It's quite a good spot to stop and where it should've gone originally (personally)
once I discovered that WCML is not only 350 and 390, but that it also has Bakerloo and 710... I did a session like Watford Junction - Euston on 710, then Euston - MK on 350, MK - Euston on 390, then as passenger to Harrow and ... (forgot ), from Harrow to Stonebridge on 1972 and from Stonebridge to Queens Park on another 1972... would continue if I wasnt so tired lol such a big expansion would bring even more possibilities, which would rock
Not bad But IN My Opinion, Milton Keynes, The Watford DC Line Included, The Class `377/2 All Included In The Current Route is Enough For Now
Yeah, I'm all for extending the route, but there are more pressing issues to worry about at the moment. An extension now would just make them worse.
Extension would be good but needs to include the Northampton Loop to justify another full price purchase. And TBH Part 2 of WCMLS should go through to Birmingham, give us what the original should have been in the first place. However as others have said, the residual issues the route and game in general have, need to be sorted first.
Really like the idea, could have gone that far in the first place instead ok Milton Keynes needs the Northampton loop, don't see it happening if anytime soon
