Just wondering but does the Blackpool Branches dlc route connect up with the West Coast Mainline Preston Carlisle dlc ? Andy
Yes I think I don't have either route, but AFAIK you should be able to route hop at Preston, and stock from Blackpool Branches layers onto WCMLOS.
No, they are not physically linked in the game. The only means of going from one to other is via route hopping, which in essence is just a short cut to not going back to the main menu.
You're welcome As Vern says, it's just a way to skip the main menu. It will spawn you, but not with the same loco, and timetabled services don't continue across. It'll just effectively spawn you in the new route as if you selected at the main menu to spawn 'on foot', just with the same date, time and weather I would love to see route merging at some point, but Matt says it is very difficult to do technologically so it may never come.
Whilst the 2 routes share Preston station, they are individual routes. On Blackpool branches you will see services coming into Preston via the WCML. On WCMLoS, you will see services arriving from and departing to Blackpool at Preston. Please note that currently the class 87 does not appear in the Blackpool branches route but is supposedly being added at some point. Also note that the WCMLoS timetable is a weekday timetable and Blackpool branches is a weekend timetable so services don't always match up.
With many routes set around the same era available to form some kind of network (as in TSC), I hope something beyond the "hopping marker" will be considered seriously, so as to stay in the cab, even if it involves a loading screen. Driving services such as East Croydon - Watford, or even much longer ones (Euston - Fort Bill...) would then be possible ! It's the ultimate solution for those looking for really long drives... and the W in TSW would gain some meaning.
