I find it so boring that this contest is only once per month. People do not/or hardly post any pictures anymore so you can't enjoy nice pictures each week anymore. Bring back weekly contest again.
I think you should regularly check the Steam community pages. Still plenty of stuff going on. There is just one picture in the monthly, not sure people are interested in posting. (In this case, the pic is nice and ticks a few marketing boxes so it's just going to win, no point in adding fodder.) Judging from the traffic and feedback on other threads, I feel like there is a general lack of interest. The 3rd party contest is still weekly. Why didn't you post? As for the official, it appears that people aren't interested in nice screenshots but ads about nice addons. At first glance a complaint but realistically, this is a game, and people want to know how to improve their game, their fun. Also the recurring conversation about using enhancements. Comparing my older shots it appears stock 2D weather has been upgraded over the years but 3D suffers. Plus of course the restriction of workshop routes even. There is barely new content for years, except the German department. It gets really stale. As a new or sequential player (like me) you can have fun, but that's it. Plus, of course, the shrinking community. Major names like cscarpenter, paulc, Pookeyhead are gone. I have some old screenshot megathreads bookmarked and the names are familiar and all gone.
I'm still armed and dangerous! I'm collecting a few screen shots to add to this month's contest. The TSW competition has been reduced to every two weeks, so it's not just TSC.
There is a lot of activity in the discord groups of trainsimcommunity and golden age developments. It might not be on these forums or in the monthly contest, but there are lots of screenshots and other stuff.
Isn't the "unofficial" one still weekly? The "official" one is too limiting any way as you have to use the vanilla game without any addons, and hardly anyone actually does that, so it's not even representative of the sim in my opinion.
