Techniacally, the only narrow gauge route we have is the Arosa line. So, I suggest we have more narrow gauge railways in TSW3. Why? In TSW, we currently have 2 Scottish routes and at least 9 British routes but 0 Welsh routes. I think bringing in welsh narrow gauge routes should be a brilliant start to bringing Wales' routes to TSW3 as Wales is well known for its narrow gauge railways. What Railways Do I suggest 1. Talyllyn Railway The Talyllyn Railway runs for 7.25 miles from Tywyn on the Mid-Wales coast to Nant Gwernol near the village of Abergynolwyn. The line was built in 1865 and closed 1946. The line was purchased for preservation in 1951 and thus it became the world's first heritage railway. In pop-culture, The Skarloey Railway which formed part of The Railway Series by The Reverend Wilbert Awdry, was based on the Talyllyn Railway (and its engines). The preservation of the line inspired the Ealing Comedy film: The Titfield Thunderbolt. 2. Ffestiniog Railway The Ffestiniog Railway runs for 13.5 miles between Portmadog and Bleanu Ffestiniog where the line meets the Conwy Valley Line. The Line opened in 1836 and closed in 1946. The line was purchased for preservation in 1954. Fun Fact: one of the preservationists was Alan Pegler who would go and purchase 60103 "Flying Scotman" from BR for preservation. The railway is famous for its Double Fairlie Locomotives. 3. Welsh Highland Railway The Welsh Highland Railway runs for 25 miles between Porthmadog and Caernarfon. The line opened in 1922 and closed in 1937. The line was purchased for preservation in 1961. 4. Corris Railway The Corris Railways opened in 1859 and closed in 1948. The line was purchased for preservation in 1966 5. Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway The Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway runs for 8.5 miles between Welshpool and Llanfair Caereinion. The line opened in 1903, taken over by the GWR in 1923, taken over by BR in 1948 and then closed in 1956. The line was then purchased for preservation in 1963. 6. Vale of Rheildol Railway The Vale of Rheildol Railway runs for 11.75 miles between Aberystwyth and Devil's Bridge. The line opened in 1902, taken over by the GWR in 1923, taken over by BR in 1948 and then became the last steam operated railway owned by BR. The line was privitised in 1989 and thus entered preservation. In the 1960s, the line's locomotives and rolling stock were painted into British Rail's Corporate Blue Livery with the famous 'coming or going' logo emblazoned on loco and coach sides. The railway became the only steam-operated railway to have such a livery painted on its rolling stock and locomotives.
Matt has suggested he would love to see a Welsh narrow gauge in the game but it’s unlikely at the moment! Not sure whether he meant for TSW or TSC or both!
TSC have many welsh narrow gauge routes such as corris, talyllyn and ffestioniog so he probably meant for TSW
All these routes would give much pleasure to many people. DTG would have to get the steam physics spot on for steep hilly routes and of course get as much detail as possible in the scenery but if they (or any third party developer) could pull any of these off well they would be such a joy to drive.
Only Corris was "official" DLC for TSC. Still awesome to ride on, but a bit obsolete route with low details. I'd like to have Talyllyn Railway for TSC with a good quality!
