With a route length of 65 miles and a variety of traffic, the line between Westbury and Eastleigh is mostly diesel, but the section between Redbridge and Eastleigh does feature the southern 3rd rail system. It also features a variety of freight traction from the aggregates workings from Westbury to destinations such as Eastleigh, Westbury, Ardingly, Fareham to name a few. There are also the vast array of docks at Southampton, with West Dock and the nearby Freightliner terminal catering for container traffic whilst the Eastern Docks sees arrivals for Jaguar Land Rover cars (something that has been paused for the last few weeks). A segment of the East Coastway line will be included from St Denys to Sholing as this runs close to Southampton East Docks. upload_2025-9-17_21-47-33.png [IMG]

    Proposed Rolling Stock
    • Class 158 in South Western Railway and Great Western Railway livery[IMG][IMG]
Having first been introduced to the simulator by Skyhook Games' Midland Main Line route, the Class 158 would be the main form of diesel traction along this route with both SWR and GWR variants included. The SWR class 158 would find its use on the local Salisbury - Romsey via Eastleigh services as well as cosplaying as 159s on London Waterloo services at Salisbury. SWR have a total of 10 units, with all of these being 2 cars. The GWR fleet is slightly larger and is comprised of 13 2 car units and 5 3 car units (18 in total) with these seeing use on all the GWR local services included within this route as well as the Cardiff to Portsmouth 'express' service. These services will also feature the 166 which will layer in for players who own Great Western Express.

    • Class 450 'Desiro' in South Western Railway livery[IMG]
South Western Railway operate 127 of these 4 car Desiro units which are essentially the same as the 350/1 included with WCML South except that they don't have a pantograph (The 350/1 were originally built as 450s before South West Trains decided they didn't want them and were then converted to Central Trains' specifications). They can be found running local services on this route between Eastleigh/Sholing and Southampton as well as the express services which would normally be covered by 444s.
    • Class 59/2 in Freightliner Orange & Black livery[IMG]
The Class 59/2s look and sound similar to the Class 66, but the cab layout is different as well as the 59s greater hauling capacity when compared to a un-modified 66. The Freightliner fleet comprises of 6 locos which can be found on workings from Merehead to the many destinations across the UK rail network as well as the Eastleigh & Southampton aggregates workings which will feature in this route.
    • Class 66 in Freightliner, GBRf and DB liveries[IMG][IMG][IMG]
It wouldn't be a modern UK route if it didn't include the class 66 in some format, but this route would include 2 new liveries as well as 2 new wagons (IPA and WIA). These wagons would be used for the freight services out of Southampton Eastern Docks, adding 6 services to the timetable. The Freightliner and GBRf 66 variants have a different headlight setup compared to the DB ones, and would use the FKA and Cargo Line container wagons depending on which service is being driven.

    Additional layers
Class 166 (GWE): Will substitute for 158s on all GWR local services
Class 220 (TSW6 Deluxe): Will layer in for AI controlled Manchester - Bournemouth services, with ECS moves to/from Southampton Central in the early morning/late evening being player driven.
Class 377/4 (BML): Will layer in for Southern services from Southampton, which run fast to Woolston
Class 802 (Riviera): Will add GWR express services around Westbury.
RHTT Class 66: Will layer in for seasonal RHTT services along the route
Cargo Line Container: Will substitute FKA wagons on select services.
Cargo Line Military: Will add a couple of Kineton - Marchwood MOD services.
