So this suggestion is London Euston to Northampton. Stations: London Euston Wembley Central Harrow & Wealdstone Bushey Watford Junction King's Langley Apsley Hemel Hempstead Berkhamsted Tring Cheddington Leighton Buzzard Bletchley Milton Keynes Central Wolverton Northampton. So let's have a, decision choice.... Modern Era: Class 350 & Class 390. Early Modern Era: Class 87 & Class 321 Diesel Era: Class 87 & Class 506 Steam Era: Jubilee LMS & Duchess Of Sutherland. In my view Modern Era would be cool but Early Morden Era would be epic!!
Would love an older era uk route. There's not many we had (sos, tvl, ntp, wsr, diesel legends). I would go for the diesel era
Diesel Era: Class 87 & Class 506 Class 506's were confined to the Manchester area. Class 310 worked this route from 1965 to the late 1980's That would be the era for me.
As per the mention in another thread, the Class 506's were 1500v DC EMU's for Manchester to Glossop and Hadfield, i.e. the truncated western end of the Woodhead route. As stated above the superb (at least in hindsight) Class 310's formed the mainstay of the main line local and semi fast services. Very occasionally a 304 might stray south of Rugby. And of course you also had the loco hauled "Cobbler" services Northampton to Euston and vv in the peaks which depending on the year studied, varied from one to up to four trips in each direction calling variously at Milton Keynes, Bletchley and Leighton Buzzard.
