Hey all, TrainGeek08 here with an overdue suggestion, been focusing on the CC stuff you know ;), but today I'm suggesting the Leeds-Doncaster section of the East Coast Main Line as it is a shorter route and DTG are currently in a bit of a habit of creating shorter routes at this point in time so this would be a fantastic candidate for TSW :)

    Route Map:

    Stock included in base route:

The British Rail Class 321 'Dusty Bin' EMU in Northern livery

And the British Rail Class 91 'Electra' electric loco + Mk4 coaches + Mk4 DVT in East Coast livery

    Training (In Training Center):
    Class 91 Introduction
    Class 321 Introduction

    Scenarios:
    Dusty Bin: (Difficulty - 2)
Drive this Northern 321 from Doncaster to Leeds on a stopping service (features dynamic weather)

Hail the Electra (Difficulty - 4)
A massive hail storm has swept across West Yorkshire so drive this East Coast service between Leeds and Wakefield Westgate where the service is cancelled

Rescue the Bin: (Difficulty - 2)
A Class 321 has failed at Fitzwilliam so it needs collected, run a 321 ECS from Neville Hill Depot to rescue the unit and drag it back to Leeds, where the scenario will conclude

Summer in Yorkshire: (Difficulty - 1)
Drive this East Coast 91 from Leeds to Doncaster in middle of the year when it's hot in Yorkshire so get those windows open :D

    Mae 91 is Blunt... (Difficulty - 3)
The DVT's windscreen has been smashed whilst heading to London and the set can not go into Neville Hill as it is required in Craigentinny tonight, so drive this 91 service blunt end from Doncaster to Leeds until a spare DVT can be sourced if possible

    Timetable:
Here's a link to a downloadable pdf of the Network Rail Working Timetable from May 2014 on the Leeds to Doncaster section of the ECML so you can see what the service pattern is like along the line ;)

(Leeds-Doncaster is section YE02 if you are interested) :)

    Potential DLC:

The British Rail Class 150/2 'Sprinter' (again), albeit in Northern Rail livery and with proper sounds please :), for operation on the Sheffield to Adwick services

    Training (In Training Center):
    Northern 150/2 Introduction

    Scenarios:
Sprinting in Yorkshire: (Difficulty - 1)
Drive this 150/2 from Adwick to Doncaster on a Sheffield-bound service

Sprinter to Leeds? (Difficulty - 2)
Drive this 150/2 on a 321 replacement service between Doncaster and Leeds as the 321 that was due to operate the service had a pantograph failure earlier in the day so the 150 has replaced it

    Overnight Stabling: (Difficulty - 1 )
This 150 needs moving to Neville Hill Depot for the night, drive it from Leeds station into the depot, get it through the train wash and stable it ready for a return to service the next day

    Timetable:
Incorporated into the timetable in game with the 321 and 91 already included :)

    Layers:

The British Rail Class 66 'Shed' in EWS livery for freight services along the route

The LMS Jubilee from West Cornwall Steam Railtour for a special which leaves Leeds in the morning bound for Bristol Temple Meads and returns in the evening (along with ECS moves to/from Neville Hill for stabling)

    Key stations on the route:

    Doncaster:

Doncaster railway station is on the East Coast Main Line in England, serving the city of Doncaster, South Yorkshire. It is 155 miles 77 chains (251 km) down the line from London King's Cross and is situated between Retford and York on the main line. It is managed by London North Eastern Railway. It is a major passenger interchange between the main line, Cross Country Route and local services running across the North of England. It is also the point for which London North Eastern Railway services branching off to Leeds diverge from the main route continuing north towards Edinburgh

    Adwick:

Adwick railway station serves the communities of Adwick le Street and Carcroft, in the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England. Located on the line linking Leeds to Doncaster via Wakefield, immediately south-east of the point where it passes beneath Church Lane, the present station is the second to serve Adwick: the first, the main building of which still stands, lay on the other side of the present road bridge.

    Wakefield Westgate:

Wakefield Westgate railway station is a mainline railway station in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, England. It is 10 miles (16 km) south of Leeds to the west of the city centre, on the Wakefield Line and Leeds branch of the East Coast Main Line. The first Westgate station opened in 1856 a few years after the town's first station, Wakefield Kirkgate. In 1867, the station was rebuilt on the opposite side of Westgate on the main line between Leeds and Doncaster. British Rail modernised the station in 1967 when large parts of the 19th-century station were demolished and replaced with austere but functional facilities. By the 21st century, there was pressure to modernise the station and between 2009 and 2013 the station was rebuilt and modernised as a result of regeneration efforts focused upon the wider area. On 3 February 2014, the rebuilt station was officially opened.

    Leeds:

Leeds railway station (also known as Leeds City railway station) is the mainline railway station serving the city centre of Leeds in West Yorkshire, England. It is the fourth-busiest railway station in the UK outside London (as of March 2020).[5] It is located on New Station Street to the south of City Square, at the foot of Park Row, behind the landmark Queens Hotel. It is one of 20 stations managed by Network Rail.

    Points of Interest:

    Doncaster Works:
    upload_2023-6-29_20-2-22.jpeg

Doncaster Railway Works is a railway workshop located in Doncaster, England. Also referred to as 'The Plant", it was established by the Great Northern Railway in 1853, replacing the previous works in Boston and Peterborough. Until 1867 it undertook only repairs and maintenance. Today the remaining part is operated by Wabtec.

    Crofton Depot:

Bombardier Services Site - Crofton is a traction maintenance depot located in Crofton, West Yorkshire, England. The depot is situated on the Wakefield Line and Pontefract Line at the eastern end of Crofton Junction and is located near the now demolished Crofton railway station. A few operators store trains overnight for early morning services at this depot those being CrossCountry, Grand Central and TransPennine Express.

    Neville Hill Depot:

Neville Hill is a railway train maintenance depot in Osmondthorpe, Leeds, England on the Leeds to Selby Line. The depot is situated 2 miles 14 chains (3.5 km) to the east of Leeds railway station on the north side of the line. The TOPS depot code is NL.

That's it for this one and I hope you enjoyed it, put your thoughts below on this one, I've been TrainGeek08 as always, and I'll see you next time for another suggestion or CC mod release announcement, until then it's goodbye from me ;)

Cheers mate, yeah agree on those points, a modern Leeds would be fantastic to supplement the backdated Leeds in NTP :)

Brlliant suggestion mate! In the real world I really don't like this section of line but in TSW I think it would actually be a good one to have. Also the GWR HST could be given the minor changes to have the right interior and exterior to also operate on the EC Leeds runs.

Yes mate, I realised after posting I forgot about the HST :o, but yeah the HST would work the same services as the 91s would ;)

Excellent idea and if you make this 1983 to join with the Huddersfield Line NTP the route will have both Deltics and Paxman Valenta HST in operation.

Thanks, yes this would be a good idea but I'd rather have it modern for the route to capture Leeds as it is today ;)

    Yes, they would.
I had to hold my fingers back to not propose BR blue so absolutely yes a BR blue version would be excellent!

This route would be most welcome, although personally I would opt for the newer Class 331 instead of the Class 321, as these would have more future benefit for layering onto other routes (including Glossop line) as they are much more common. Hopefully if we ever get an ECML South, a Class 800/801 could layer onto such a route here also, alongside the Class 91/Mk4 trains.

    Good suggestion again :)

Cheers, the trains you are suggesting would be better off in a 2019 version of the route whereas I'm suggesting it in 2014, but a 2019 version would be nice as well if the East Coast or Northern (Serco/Abellio) licenses can't be obtained as we have the Northern Trains license already so we just need an LNER license then your idea would work :)

Thanks, indeed it would, this route is an alternative section of the ECML to the more commonly suggested ECML South: London-Peterborough stretch ;)

Having travelled on this line in real life, I would like to see it in game.
But as others have said, modern day with the 331s instead of 321s. I will settle for either, though.

Yeah, fair enough, it's just the year I set it (2014) is when the 321s/322s were around and the year the others want it to be set (2019) is when the 331s started to crop up on those services, so either way you are getting a train to operate the Doncaster to Leeds stopper :)

Yeah, my main reason for a modern day setting is because I have only seen the 331s on it and I quite like how they look

Yeah fair enough, well they have the Northern license so it is a possibility the 331 could get made, either with this or maybe something around Liverpool or Manchester :)

If done 2019 you could still see a few HSTs around before their withdrawal alongside the 331s, 225s and azumas.

Not much point really since there's only a total of 4 services on the airedale lines from LNER. But the 321 has done some ilkley runs though. imo the airedale and wharfedale lines should be a seperate route with the LNER and 321 layers.
