    Description
The Austrian Westbahn in English Western Railway runs for 312.2 KM (194 miles) from the German Border at Salzburg all the way to its December 2012-2015 Terminus Vienna Hbf via the Wiennerwald Tunnel which includes the Lainz Tunnel. Before December 2012-2015 the line went from Salzburg German border to Vienna Westbanhof. Major cities along the Westbahn are St Polten Linz & Salzburg. After Salzburg trains can go onto Germany Munich, Augsburg Stuttgart, and Frankfurt via the HMA which is a route already in Game that is used by Railjet and Nightjet to Koln & Dusseldorf in the Ruhr-Valley. The Nightjet Brussels to Vienna runs on SKA followed by the branches off the Westbahn at Linz towards Passau and eventually Aachen via the Main Spessart Bahn and Nuremberg Wurzburg Railway. The signaling system is ETCS Westbahn Wien Hbf to St Polten on the high-speed tracks. The Wien Westbahnof & Hbf slow tracks towards St Polten along with the St Polten to Salzburg segment use PZB LZB & Sifa which are found on the German routes Riesa-Dresden Main Spessart Bahn Rhein-Ruhr Osten Ruhr-Sieg Nord Hamburg-Lübeck. Max Speed is 230 km/h (145 mph) on the high-speed track Wien St Polten; other sections have a max speed of 160-200 km/h (100-125 mph). The PIS system on all stations on this route has the Voice of Chris Lohner which is the voice on DB BR182 Rapid Transit & ES64U2 Hamburg-Lubeck for SIFA PZB & LZB voice prompts. The other PIS Voice is Petra for all stations on this route. The Westbahn continues into Germany as the Haputstrecke München Rosenheim Salzburg. The Austrian Westbahn varies from two to four tracks depending on the section. The Westbahn connects with all the major Austrian Railway routes that cross the Alps and one of those is a route proposed in this forum the Tauernbahn. Another proposed route in TSW 2 forums where the Westbahn will link up to is the Semmeringbahn part of the Austrian Sudbahn Wien-Slovenian Border via Graz and a Branch to the Italian Border Station of Udine-Tarvisio. The Shunting yards Austrian Railway terminology Verschiebebahnhof are Wien Kledering Linz Wels & Salzburg Gnigl.

    ÖBB 1216

The fastest locomotive in the world by attaining the max speed of 357 km/h on SFS Munchen Nurnberg in 2006 written on OBB 1216 025. These use the ES64U2 OBB 1116 shell base but with electrical systems of a DB BR 189 quad voltage locomotive while retaining the 230 km/h max speed of DB BR 182 MRCE BR182 OBB 1016/1116. On this route, these will do freight services with Sggmrrss-y container wagons Sggmmrrs tanktainer wagons with OBB Rail Cargo Branding Zagkks LNG Cryogenic Tanker Waggons VTG and Hbbills Refrigerator Vans in OBB Rail Cargo Brand. However, OBB Baureihe 1216 can also do Railjet Services with the destination being Bozen in Italy via Brenner Bahn & Innsbruck using the same Siemens venture carriages as the 1116 Railjet. Additionally, 1216 can pull all German freight cars including SFS Hannover Wurzburg Kjils steel freight. Special paint jobs are 1216 012 Nightjet 1216 Railjet with Italian E190 lettering and 1216 025 world Locomotive. Built from 2005-2011 link is taken from the German Wikipedia. The introduction level is at Wien Kledering to Wien Hbf. Engine Room is where Sifa LZB ETCS PZB Banking Comms along with Brake mode switch is located. Can also do S-Bahn trips with Wiesel Dostos on this route. If layered on SFS Kassel Wurzburg Freight/Nightjet duty that includes the 03:27 Wurzburg to Aschaffenburg trip which becomes the 06:58 Koln 07:47 Aachen SKA Trip 07:47 AI on HRR Duisburg HBF. As originally planned for TSW 2 Intro will run from Wien Kledering to Wien Hbf

    OBB 2048
Originally Built as the DBB V100 (DB BR212) which is the West German answer to the DR V100 DB BR 204 from Main Spessart Bahn DLC. These locomotives were built by MaK Kiel for the West German Deutsche Bundesbahn from 1958-1965. Fast forward to the 1990s when OBB decided to get DB BR212s due to a locomotive Shortage therefore OBB got them and classified them as OBB 2048s with modifications to fit the OBB Infra network. Retired in 2003 when OBB got 2070 shunters. Taken from German Wikipedia article OBB 2048. Comes with the Older OBB logo which is also an option for OBB 1116 1063 1064 on the route. Comes with Shimms 4669 Shimms 4674 Steel wagons with a Wagon tracker taken from the Rail cargo site and Ucs Cement/power wagons information is from Rail Cargo powder wagons. Both OBB Rail Cargo Wagons are in the same category as Shimms U 708 Main Spessart Bahn Shimms TTU Ruhr Sieg Nord. Can layer to all DB & OBB routes. Tutorial Level is at Vbf Wien Kledering like the 1064
    Service Pattern
From the ÖBB Route Planner Westbahn is served by Railjet Trains and the Deutsche Bahn ICE Line 91 which starts on the HRR Dortmund Bochum Essen Duisburg route down to Vienna via Passau & Linz. Some of the services between Linz and Salzburg are Regional Trains which then become the Salzburg S-Bahn S2 Line. Others are Goods trains to Germany & Netherlands from Austria. In the Vienna area, Westbahn gets S80 traffic. Regarding Railjet Traffic, on the Westbahn some services are coupled together at Wien Hbf and then split up at Salzburg Hbf towards either final destinations which are Frankfurt Am Main via Munich & Augsburg or Zurich/Bregenz via Bludenz & Innsbruck. Also, the ÖBB Scotty route planner displays private operator Westbahn services between Wien Hbf & Salzburg. In the Evening and late-night Nightjet sleeper trains run the Westbahn these are Bregenz Venice via Tauernbahn and Zurich Sleeper trains use the entire Line to Salzburg Hbf from Wien Hbf. Schnellfahrstrecke Köln-Aachen and Hollandstrecke Duisburg-Oberhausen-Arnhem Amsterdam trips run the Westbahn to Wels where they join the Wels Passau Regensburg Nürnberg Würzburg Lohr Aschaffenburg Line via SFS Hannover Wurzburg Rohrbach Bbf. Route also has a Motorail service EN246/247 Euro night Renaissance Wien Hbf to Bregenz via Feldkirch Motorail terminal. In the case of that 1 it leaves from platforms 12-17 which are Dedicated to Motorail services
Note ÖBB Route Planner Scotty requires a daily check for Services between Wien Hbf and Salzburg Hbf. Can also display HMA services if Munich Hbf & Augsburg Hbf are set as destinations. Link is https://fahrplan.oebb.at/bin/query.exe/en

One of the locomotives here is a DB BR182
    Final Thoughts

Austrian Westbahn is a route that needs to be added into TSW 2 that is a jack of all trades. Shunting operations at Vbf Wien and Salzburg. Passenger services along the corridor including S-Bahn Vienna & Salzburg Railjet high-Speed Trains alongside ICE Line 91 service from HRR Dortmund Essen Bochum & Duisburg to Vienna. Additionally, there are nightjet sleeper trains that start in Vienna Hbf towards Koln & Dusseldorf in the HRR corridor. Freight services can be operated by the Taurus locomotive family Rh 2016 and Rh 1142 locomotives. Another benefit of the Westbahn in Train Sim World is that ÖBB Trains can be layered onto german routes such as HMA Railjet & Nightjet Freight, RRO Freight to Hagen Hbf Yard in Ruhr Sieg Nord via Wuppertal SKA Nightjet service Brussels Midi/Amsterdam Arnhem Duisburg to Wien Hbf via Köln Hbf Linz & Passau and Main Spessart Bahn. Since the rush hour update is coming to the game players can then take control of S-Bahn Salzburg and S-Bahn Vienna services with tight timetables. For Owners of HMA the addition of OBB Railjet services can create interesting races involving RJX 63 08:40 Augsburg 09:13 Munich Hbf with RE 50719 08:40 Augsburg Hbf 09:29 Munich Hbf made up of Main Spessart Bahn DB BR 146.2 Dostos or Ruhr-Sieg Nord DB BR 143 Dostos those along with Other ÖBB passenger Services will have priority over freight services. Passenger service first then freight trains do not apply to the United States and Canada where it's Railway Freight traffic then passenger trains. One more fun gameplay function that the Austrian Westbahn if made for TSW 2 is the Hump Yard Function which is only used on Sand Patch Grade Cumberland Yard with AC4400CW. Instead of SPG AC4400CW you’re using OBB 1064 1063 & 1163 electric shunters or the Diesel 2070 locomotive. There are two on this route Verschiebebahnhof Wien Kledering Wels and Salzburg Gnigl for those that want SPG Hump Yard Gameplay on a European Route. Furthermore, locomotives like 1216 & 1293s can run Riesa-Dresden freight services from Roderau/Riesa to Dresden using OBB Branded wagons in the form of Hbbills refrigerator wagon container wagons Sggmmrrss-y & Sggmmrrs. Including the new Zagkks LNG Tanker wagons in White Orange & Blue VTG paint and existing Deutsche Bahn ones like the Habbiins paper roll wagons. Another aspect of the Westbahn is that it can affect Schnellfahrstrecke Köln-Aachen Main Spessart Bahn Hauptstrecke München-Augsburg with Nightjet sleeper trains. For Main Spessart Bahn EN424 425 420 421 is the 02:01 or 01:51 Aschaffenburg to Würzburg trip. HMA 06:28 Augsburg Hbf München Hbf 07:28 Schnellfahrstrecke Köln-Aachen 06:58 Köln Hbf 07:47 Aachen Hbf. If made for TSW 3 OBB Westbahn SFS Wien Salzburg via Linz St Polten gives the correct 1116 for the Nightjet Hamburg Altona to Wien Hbf and Innsbruck on SFS Hannover Kassel Wurzburg. Can be substituted by the OBB 1216. Also the 02:40 Wurzburg 03:20 Asschaffenburg Trip via Lohr if Hannover Kassel Wurzburg was merged with Main Spessart Bahn the same trip becomes 06:58 Koln Hbf to Aachen Hbf 07:47 and the 07:47 Ai at Duisburg Hbf on HRR. With the addition of Linke Rheinstrecke Koblenz Bingen Mainz ÖBB Westbahn owners unlock a second time table to which ÖBB Baureihe 1116 1216 runs 23:45 Koblenz 00:39 Mainz with the Lorelei Rock background.
To conclude OBB 2048 will give the TSW 2 community experience operating the West German answer to DR V100 the DB BR204 for Main Spessart Bahn. That means OBB 2048 can run both German and Austrian routes as a Universal PZB-equipped shunter. Another aspect of OBB Baureihe 1116 & 1216 is that both OBB locomotives are compatible with existing dostos 767.2 766.2 780 785 and also my proposed Bochum/Dortmund Hagen suggestion 781 785 dosto when DTG decides to layer OBB locomotives on DB routes due to the same PZB90 system. If Salzburg Hbf and Vbf Salzburg Gnigl are too long from Wien Hbf and Wien Kledering then The route can be shortened to Linz Hbf Passengers Freight Linz Vbf from Wien Hbf Passengers Wien Kledering Freight. Therefore Westbahn can be abbreviated as SWL (186km Schnellfahrstrecke Wien-Linz) Shortened to Linz but SWS all the way to Salzburg. Additionally if made for TSW 3 all OBB locomotives can run on existing German routes carried over from TSW 2020 & TSW 2 and newer TSW 3 German routes that include Linke Rheinstrecke and Niddertalbahn. On Bremen Oldenburg OBB Baureihe 1116 1216 & 1293 gain Emden Wien Kledering and Nordenham Wien Kledering services. The former pull-in at Hude sidings for Bremen Hbf. To end the final thoughts this route gives the Correct Ddm915s for KWG and Linke Rheinstrecke 23:45 Koblenz 00:39 Mainz trip if it gets a present-day timetable update using 1116 195 & DLC 1216 012. With the addition of Niddertalbahn 365 from that route will then spawn inside Wien Kledering with Es50 sugar hoppers that can be run by 1116 1293 1216 1064 2070 2048 locomotives. More recently with the Three Country Corner route TSW4 Voarlberg Bahn SFS Wien Salzburg will give 4744-4748 EMU Talent 3 4758 Wiesel Dosto 1016-1216 Freight 1293 mixed duty 1014 1042/1142 shunters 2048 1063 1064 and 1163 to that route. While S-Bahn Wien Salzburg Linz 4024 can sub in for the assigned 4024. Achievement wise 4024 Westbahn counts for Voarlberg version 1293 for Railpool 193 and lastly 1116 for 182 achivements

If you ask me, this would come with the Railjet, another Taurus for freight and the Wiesel Doppelstockwagen and the Desiro ML (Cityjet)

How about the freight Taurus is it going to be the 1016 15kv 16.7hz Germany Austria only or the quadvoltage 1216 locomotive. Which is the fastest electric locomotive in the world 357 km/h max speed. For DTG will they consider the Siemens vectron ÖBB1293 as a DLC locomotive with ÖBB 1063 as the Shunter provided DTG chooses the Westbahn Wien Hbf Linz/ St Polten. Railjet can layer onto HMA as 20:43 München Hbf to Augsburg Hbf and the 08:40 Augsburg Hbf 09:10 München Hbf trip

I agree and in the case of the German routes it's going to add services to them. Examples are nightjet on Main Spessart Bahn Schnellfahrstrecke Köln-Aachen and Haputstrecke München Augsburg. Railjet to Haputstrecke München Augsburg followed by freight services on Rhein-Ruhr Osten Haputstrecke München Augsburg and Main Spessart Bahn. The recent why I mentioned Main Spessart Bahn is that ÖBB Nightjet to Hamburg Altona Köln Aachen and Duisburg Hbf takes this route instead by using the Schnellfahrstrecke Hannover Würzburg connector at Lohr in both directions. The big question is this should DTG make a new model for ES64U2 ÖBB1116 & 1016 or Reskin the existing BR182 Rapid Transit and Hamburg-Lübeck into ÖBB colors? One more requested locomotive that was in Train Sim 21 and needs to be in TSW2 the Vectron ÖBB1293 & ÖBB1014

great suggestion! :) The westsrecke is a very important route here in austria. with railjets etc. between st. pölten and wien west are also CJX5 cityjet express. it stopps at tullnerveld and wien hütteldorf. i will be happy if a route from austria comes in th game. I also did a Thread for an Austrian Route. Its the s Bahn Wien. And the Stammstrecke (the Line with the most trains pro day (700)) the Name of the Thread is "S Bahn Wien Gänserndorf - Mödling - Airport (english)" i Hope you Like it :)

What trains does the Cityjet Express use? Another question about the Westbahn does ÖBB1216 run services there or not? If so then I can edit this suggestion to include that as a freight loco selected Passenger services. Your suggestion connects to mine at Wien Hbf before branching off to the Airport while mine ends at Verschiebebahnhof Wien Kledering. A bundle for both your suggestion and mine can be called Nahverkehr Wien.

CJX cityjet express uses desiro ML or better said the CJX5 uses br.4744 the one with one door in the front/back. sad news: the oebb does not use the talent 3. i heard that it got canceld :( about the 1216: I think that sometimes they run on the weststrecke. but not the route salzburg vienna. they ususally use 1116 and 1016. i have a idea for a train that also operates at the westsrecke. the öbb nightjet. taurus - sleeping waggons.

I wonder what was the reason to why ÖBB 4758 got canceled? I decided to put in ÖBB 4758 because it's the most recent multiple-unit ordered by ÖBB for Innsbruck S-Bahn Voarlberg possibly Wien S-Bahn to replace 4020s. One of the nightjet trips is actually a Motorail train to Feldkirch with Ddm 915s alternatives are Hccrrs Laaers 560s. Actual ÖBB website in German text Autoreisezug Wien Feldkirch

Two complete train sets with two locomotives can be run as a pair giving a train of fourteen carriages. The coach furthest from the locomotive acts as a control car. Those will change SKA & HMA to a degree because that gives them OBB services. Regarding HMA RJX63/66 take 30 minutes to reach Augsburg from Munich Nightjet 33 minutes

An Austrian route with Railjet Taurus and Vectron in one package would instantly make TSW2 a great deal more diverse and attractive.

I agree and for the Nightjet it can run on HMA Main Spessart Bahn Schnellfahrstrecke Köln Aachen. In addition to the Schnellfahrstrecke Wien Salzburg the Westbahn. For owners of Westbahn and HRR you get access to Bochum Eherenfeld Wien Kledering or Salzburg Gnigl Freight AI ÖBB 1293 173-200 Nightjet and Freight to Netherlands at Duisburg Hbf. München Laim gets ÖBB Baureihe 1064 1163 1063 if HMA and Westbahn are owned. In return Salzburg Gnigl Wien Kledering get 204 363 & G6. For the Gnigl hump it's facing the S-Bahn platforms

"The Austrian Westbahn runs for 312.2 KM (194 miles) from Salzburg"
How many other routes are they in TSW that exceed 100kms?

Even the TSC version from RSSLO is in 4 sections - this is too long for TSW.
