This hub was also created out of interest

It's a general question for everyone. What do you think about the 101 addon?

Do you think the price is too high? Do you think the price is justified? Do you think it's good or do you think it's bad?

My experience now with the entire addon is personally quite ok

The control car is really well done 3-D model the three 101s are quite fine the MFD version many errors but you can see over it

Here are a few positive things

-Small detail on the ebula start screen

    Rail simulator IMG_3792.jpeg

-GSMR/extremely many functions and slightly complex

    -Cab car/Wonderful 3-D model, IMG_3791.jpeg

-The engine room of the 101 is well done even the small details with the worn floor simply wonderful

(That's not all, the rest would be the disturbances (I sat for 4 hours tonight to get the locomotive back in gear because everything failed is just wonderful (not in a negative sense) that gives you a feeling like you were operating a real locomotive

    Break the frame)

    Negative

Despite an extremely well-done exterior model of the cab car, there are many small errors

    -Error in the door animation

    -Error in window animation

Missing rain and snow (will be fixed as far as I've heard it)

The MFD version always starts with errors such as brake failure

    AFB problems

    Missing car number

The cabin light, which is permanently different

Conclusion/tsg Probably had some time pressure, which is also perfectly understandable but 36 € and then the whole range and mistakes don't have to be it's better

I think when all the fixes and other updates they are planning for it like rain effects, adding it to another time table it will be worth the price so I am waiting.

My major concern is how the screens work on console with the finicky contoller setup.

Native English speakers will struggle with this DLC. Everything in German makes it even harder than it already is.

Obv this isn't a negative for the DLC itself as this is how it is, just speaking from a non-German perspective

    My two xents worth.
I can understand about the price tag of £30 and other respective regions' currency. In my eyes, it's a study level locomotive equivalent in the same way to some of the MSFS study and expensive aircraft. I personally do not care whether you think this is a fair comparison. At the end of the day opinions are like butt holes. Everyone has one. It doesn't mean you are right.

Personally I would wait until it's on sale to purchase it. Unless you're willing to pay full price.

I quite like the 101. I loved the original 101. One of the sounds that I loved the best was the cab doors when they were shut and glad to see they are still in the expert version as well.

As per the faults system. To be fair I will always put the 101 faults on as default and set it to one. As that represents a typical scene. If m9re than one fault appears then it's my lucky day. Also I would highly suggest , infact make it a requirement, that you download and read the manual....... how much you read is totally upto you!!), / enters Yoda mode but read it you must.

I have only managed to drive it once, but have enjoyed the experience so far. I look forward to to drivnng BR101 more often

I personally think that theere should be more sevices and scenarios for it.

Not really encountered any bugs. Really need to drive it more.

    Hentis

Indeed, but an opinion derived from (and which can be backed up with) facts, considered thought and a bit of critical thinking is not the same as one derived from feelings, or just instinct. The fact is that although it is very detailed, it is not the same as an MSFS study level aircraft because you can’t use the thing to it’s full potential, the game just doesn’t allow it. In other words, you’re paying for systems and detail that you can’t use. That is not the devs fault, but it is an issue nonetheless. However, it stacks up fairly against aircraft of comparable price, the difference being they have been designed in such a way that they largely work as they do independently from the game.

The product is good, and there are some excellent elements to it. It is currently pretty buggy though, there are some bits that undoubtedly need work and some bits that need a bit more polish, particularly the incorrect English in many of the instructions etc. The tutorials are lacking (but that’s a TSW thing) and I was a bit disappointed that on at least one scenario that has you have a blown traction motor, it doesn’t follow the correct instructions to rectify, nor when you come to a halt on the mainline do you use the intricately detailed GSM-R to inform the signaller that you’ve come to a stop. What a waste.

It is harder to use than your average TSW train, but then it’s meant to be. It requires a bit of effort to be put in, but as with all things that require effort, the rewards are more pronounced when you get it right. That said though, I honestly don’t understand why you would buy this and not use it in expert mode. In that instance it is a waste of money at £30. It never fails to amaze me how flight simmers learn the most intricate details about hellishly complex commercial jetliners, why should train sims be any different? Many of us want this detail, and welcome it to the game. I stand by what I said in another thread though, that the loco completely outperforms the game, in that so much effort has gone in to modelling systems etc but the game never lets you use them, which is a massive shame. I also stand by the fact that for £30 many of these basic bugs should not be making it to the release candidate, it’s not just the rain.

TSW really needs content like this though and I really hope it sells well. The game, however, needs to allow this level of detail to be utilised to it’s full potential. As it stands I’d give it 7.5/10. When the update comes and they (hopefully) squash the bugs etc it’ll be a comfortable 9, but it can never be a 10 because of the limitations of the game itself. Finally, something putting the ‘sim’ in Train Sim World.

Expert rolling stock on routes with borked signaling? No thanks. Is there a German route with faultless signaling and implementation of Indusi, LZB, ECTS etc?
I'd like 'expert' rolling stock as to operation (displays, EBuLA etc), dynamics and physics (suspension, braking, acceleration), sound and vision under all weather conditions. Can not care for lengthy setup procedures or scripted fault handling.
Doubt the Simugraph is really 'expert', since it is still only a game engine and the limited resources of low end PC's and gaming consoles cannot handle much more than 1 train, all AI runs on toy train physics. Which probably also rules out MP.

It’s a nice but if dlc, great sounds, great playability within the loco, however, it lacks playability within the time tables and has a fair few bugs that could make it harder for people

I’d say I’m enjoying it more than the original.
    • Original 101: Owned 2 years. 803 km driven.
    • Expert 101: Owned 4 days. 1,203 km driven.
Even as a timetable-only player, I’m still finding the experience much improved. This is what driving in tsw should feel like. I think one needs to play it to understand.

Sounds and physics are very good. Sure there’s not many reasons to cold start or use the GSM-R (other than change the network on parts of Salzburg - Rosenheim) but the fault simulation has added a layer that I really enjoy. I only play with 1x or 2x chaos factor but the potential for something to happen generally keeps me focused, it’s added a layer of possible chaos I guess

Yea the smart play with the direct coming is to try and hunt for a sale/bundle of some sort. DLC may or may not be overpriced (all about perspective) but at the end of the day these things aren’t cheap.

I do like the concept but it's a TSW release like you would expect it. Is it a bug? Don't know, could be by design.

I would wait some patches to buy it.
