For me I got started with TSW2 for X Box 1X via agood online sale and that it came with SPG after then i was hooked ..got TSW3 then 4 . I like US routes the most but i have gotten more into British German roures and trains courtesy of TSW I ve enjoyed learning how to operate all the different trains . ive shown the game to a couple of friends and 1of them liked it enough he decided to get into it the other is considering going into it soon he liked looks of free roam in TSW4 .i konow like most games out there has some flaws and issues but over all i still enjoy it plus I am console only and TSW is the Big and most realistic train sim on consoles right now

like big machines > like movement of big machines > like sound of big machines > like trains > cry that I can't apply for a job as a train driver yet > buy game so I can drive trains at home

    something like that.

Been a railfan since I was young, used to watch people play TSC because I didn't have a PC. Then when I heard tsw was coming and it would be available for consoles as well, it was a must buy

Generally, it’s because I love everything to do with trains. My Grandfather used to constantly talk to me about them when I was younger and it’s just stuck with me.

I‘ve been into Train Sim Classic since it was called Railworks 3 back in 2009. I initially avoided TSW based on reviews but then TSW2020 was in a sale so I bought it and whilst it had its faults I felt the reviews had been somewhat misleading, as I really enjoyed it.

Progressed to TSW2, really enjoyed the Rush Hour Routes. Didn’t think much of TSW3 at all. TSW‘s worst year in my opinion.

Still play TSC mostly. But I have to say that this week, sitting on the sofa playing the new Just Trains route on PlayStation on a big TV with the sound cranked up is a very enjoyable experience.

Well I liked the idea of driving real trains on real routes as a game and enjoyed seeing some TSC videos on YouTube, but being on console not PC makes that idea not a reality.

until I noticed a stream on YouTube home page for an Xbox One game Called Train Sim World Founders edition, went to the store to check it out and purchased it (it was just GWE back then)

overtime I bought a bit more dlc and eventually TSW2 was announced and I created a forum account just before it release, knowing my old content came across made it pretty guaranteed purchase, I followed that similarly but more engaged with it than TSW1, practically bought nearly every piece of dlc for that one.

My dad worked for CSX and its predecessors for nearly 40 years, so I was interested when I first saw CSX Heavy Haul in 2017.

    What got me into TSW?

Well, I like trains so that's the first point.
Secondly, I couldn't afford a PC to run TSC and my laptop was a bit rubbish back then so being able to drive trains on PS4 was a huge bonus.

I started with TSW2020 special edition back in late 2019 and have carried through all versions of the game/sim and have both PS4 and PS5 versions.

My favorite British routes are NTP TVL mainly for the older diesel locomotives i like the class 20 37 47 esp the sound of engines the sound of the class 20 chopper sounds very similar to old Alco S series switchers in US the 37 sound like a alco also tsw kinda sparked more interest in these locomotives and routes i even watched a few yt videos on these engines im not very knowledgeable about these but interesting to try and learn about stuff in other countries in tsw

    I like trains - it's that simple.

I came across TSW2020 in lockdown and have had many many happy hours on TSW since.

I was born in a family of train drivers and staff members, so naturally I contracted the virus and I played a lot of train games on PC. Lately I stopped upgrading my PC to keep up with newer games as I didn’t have enough time because of uni, the tiny free time I had I was spending it playing on the PS4 with my mates. When I heard that TSW was coming to the PS4 it was a win win for me (which I already had and doesn’t need any upgrade etc) I immediately bought it and till now, I’m quite addicted to it (+6000 hours if I add up from TSW OG to TSW4).

Got my first model railway at the age of 4, pretty sure it was an FP7, and thus began a lifetime obsession.

I’m part of an Amtrak family here in the US. Trains have been in my life since I was about 3 years old and got my first train set. I started on Microsoft Train Simulator all the way back in 2001 when my Mom brought it home for me as a gift. Little did she know what she was getting herself into. Lol. Then just continued on with all of the train sims as I grew up. Moved onto TSC back when it was TS2012 and have had every version since then. The Peninsula Corridor is what brought me over to TSW all these years later. I got it on TSW2020 around 2019. Kept me busy during COVID since work slowed way down. I gave up after TSW2 since that broke everything. I only returned and got TSW4, completely skipping TSW3 because of Metrolink AV Line. I had no intention of returning to the TSW franchise because of the exact issues I’ve experienced in TSW4. I’m a US passenger guy and not super into running freight, although I would if something good came along.

Always been a bit interested in trains and started dabbling with the Microsoft train sim a number of years back but quickly lost interest as it was all a bit clunky.
I think it was in 2019 that I accidentally stumbled on one of Matt’s videos on YouTube, showcasing the new GWR route. The dramatic improvement in the quality of TSW compared with what I’d seen before was impressive. Somehow the whole TSC era had passed me by unnoticed but I was now definitely hooked.

My great uncle was an Inspector at the Deutsche Bundesbahn, Basel Badischer Bahnhof.

Cousin was a dispatcher (Fdl) and driver (Tf) working for Albtal-Verkehrs-Gesellschaft. (now working in IT systems integration after the dispatching and crazy shifts led to a massive burnout and quitting the underpaid job)

I started with the then excellent german freeware "Loksim3D", then got into TSC, Zusi 3 and also OpenRails / MSTS. Additionally Run 8, as US freight is the most interesting aspect of railroading for me, really mastering extreme physics.

Started with TSW in December 2016, with the CSX:Heavy Haul beta access (which was terrible from a simulation viewpoint, and the core game flaws quickly overshadowed the UE4 looks).

I've been interested in trains for as long as I can remember, my bedroom window looked out onto the local railway station.
In 2017 I took my eldest son to the Open Day at Old Oak Common depot in London. He spent most of his time at the Dovetail Games stand where he was excited to learn that game called Train Sim World was coming to xBox and featured our local route. He saved his pocket money to buy Founders edition. I played a couple of times but found it buggy and confusing.
During lockdown I saw the Northern Trans Pennine DLC on GamePass and gave it another go. I was hooked and have bought every British (and most German) dlc since.

I started as I got hooked on Train Simulation since the launch of MSTS in my mid fifties unfortunately may not see what develops in the next twenty years. TSW is by far the best simulator for me at the moment.

When I don't have time to drive a proper route on TSC I drive a short one in TSW lol.

Well for me growing up my Grandad had 2 hobbies, fishing and trains. While my dad and my siblings went down the fishing route, I went with trains always enjoyed them, kinda hard for me to explain why but I just do. Also I own a lot of model railway stuff mostly in OO/HO gauge but I recently started in N gauge.

My first train sim was MSTS many many moons ago, then I moved onto Trainz>railworks>TSC and then when I finally got around to buying a good enough PC I tried out the HeavyHaul beta, from then on it was TSW>TSW2>TSW3>TSW4. I prefer the TSW series more compared to TSC as I feel like it's more immersive i.e. being able to get out the train, explore the route and the main one for me is the timetable mode.

Same here. Liked what I saw, so bought TSW3 on Steam when it was on sale. Then bought some DLC also in a sale (notably the Bakerloo line since I'd dabbled with it in TSW2), now progressed to TSW4. BPO was my first full-price DLC purchase, not regretting it at all. For me, this game gives me a chance to play with trains while I don't have the time or money to go Interrailing again (roll on retirement for that!).

I was watching aviation videos on Youtube, and some of the ads were of a game with a London Underground train on it.

I liked trains, but had no clue of anything about them back then. The only thing I knew was Geoff Marshall

Later I saw a Moleman978 video about the very same Underground train simulator (through the magic of Youtube recommendations), I was blown away by the detail!

Many months later, I finally got TSW2, and bought all sorts of DLC over time. I love TSW.

Used to love trains when I was a young, but as I grew up it became more of like from afar thing. However in 2019 around the time my son had started to get into trains (he was only 2 at the time) I saw Outside Xbox on YouTube do a let’s play of the OG TSW. Thought it looked brilliant so picked it up and that in turn got me fully back into trains again and haven’t looked back since! My lad is 6 now and still likes trains so we play TSW together and do IRL train stuff. So must say that my bank balance aside, TSW has a really positive impact in my life ☺️

For me, well, we didn't have a car so it was always public transport to get around. I remember there was a bus service which stopped outside our house. So that got me into the bus scene. But, of course it also meant that we would use the train to go to Blackpool. Normally it was a 104 or 108, if lucky a 105. On top of that during the holidays we would go all over the north west on the train.

When I was working in my last driving job, I used to travel from Manchester to Leeds very often. So seeing a train sim which has the line, with a 1st Gen DMU was enough the peak my intrest, So I bought it, and loved it (Although we still need more units and better sounds for the 101). From then on I have been off and on with TSW and Transport Fever 2.

I think that played a part for me too. As a kid, we lived in Epping so I was very used to the Central line (including the old Epping to Ongar branch). I remember at age 5 or 6 being amazed at the size of the "big train" when we went to pick up a relative travelling down from Scotland to visit.

First: I love trains since I was a little boy, standing at the window of the shop of my grandpa, who was an electrician for Bundesbahn in Bremen.
Second: Since MSTS I'm hooked with driving trains on my computer everywhere. Driving trains is calming, I enjoy the sounds and the view. Thats why I had high hopes for TSW. Walking to the engine, boarding it. Or just driving as a passenger. Or standing in the station and watching trains as in the real world, that is TSW for me.

I just play all the weird and wonderful simulators, so I stumbled on TSW around the time of ECW.
Had played TSC for a few years before, but mostly for the editor to build custom routes.

I always was a Railfan, mainly because I grew up using the Train alot. Often times, my school was quite a distance away from me, so from an early age I had to learn to go on the train myself, pay for the ticket, etc...
I grew a bit older, and the train became kinda a safespace for me when school was over. Just get in, sit down, pop in some earbuds and watch the world go by.

With all that, I've always had a big interest in Train Simulators, mostly confined to what I could find on the App Store unfortunately.
Around the time I got an Xbox one S, I remember watching squirrel play TSW: CSX Heavy Haul. Genuinely blew me away how good it looked! However, I was a bit sad that I wouldn't be able to play it.

Until... It was added TSW2020 was added to gamepass, and that's when I began to really get into Train Simming.

Having been a rail enthusiast since childhood I was waiting for a train driving game for consoles having played Microsoft Train Simulator on PC back in the day. When Train Sim World came into consoles back in 2018 I got the founders edition which comprised of Great Western Express. I was blown away by the detail of the trains and being able to explore around the route on foot.
