I was looking for a manual for a DLC on the official manuals page, and I noticed that right at the bottom of the page there used to be an Amtrak SW1000R, but it was only for TSW 2020; it simply doesn’t exist in modern versions of TSW. My question is: why was it "removed", and why wasn’t it ported to other Amtrak routes?
It was a DLC for the old NEC New York route, which used different building/development techniques and thus couldn’t be carried over to TSW2 and newer as compatible content. Don’t quote me on this, but if I remember correctly, Matt was asked about the loco ages ago during a TSW stream and commented that he remembered it and would love to bring it back, but it would be a lot of work. Perhaps it’s something they’ll reconsider after the new NEC route comes out for TSW6? I assume the model and some of the textures could be reused, at the very least. With its release, the workplace of the locomotive in the old DLC will finally be in the game again.
Personally there are so many more Amtraks I’d rather see over this one, but any more Amtrak rolling stock would be appreciated.
There's a mod-made SW1500 available (for PC), but I believe only in CN and CSX liveries, and available only to sub on existing shunting services
