So I was trying BNSF SD40-2 for the first time today. (I have no idea why didn't I do it earlier) And found out that there is a "CFM" meter there. I don't know what does it display, but needle seems to shake, when I brake using independent brake. Can someone explain, please?
You can see the train brakes is charging. It filling up the air tanks every wagon has. When it is near 0 the train is charged. Ready to get brake again.
Not sure it actually works in TSW. have seen it functioning in Run 8 though, both on the cab display and the tickertape HUD. In the case of Run 8 you need to watch closely if you're joining cars together as moving the angle c0cks between the portion from half open to full before the flow drops to less than about 50 can kick the PCS out.
Yes. some it "works" and some it just not moving at all. but I don't think it working well with reality even when it works. Run8 have working Air flow meter.
Fair enough. Anyhow posting the above inspired me to fire up Run 8 after a gap of about 3 months, shifting the Bakersfield to Los Angeles Oil Cans down into the Basin.
It works on the C40-8W (very helpful, in fact, because in the absence of an EOTD display you can get an idea when the brakes are released at the back); and works (as a digital readout) on any of the newer US diesels with MFD screens. Sadly, on the SD40 it's ornamental
Sadly no new content has a working flow meter. Even the C40-8W seems to have the reading wrong on it. If you wait for it to get to where it needs to be you will be waiting forever. The digital display in more recent locos just shows zero all the time.
