There are not any proper freight routes in TSW due to short distances. If you want to get a real immersion in US freigt operations go better for RUN8.
Cajon pass is good very well kown ..Sand Patch CSX heavy haul ..NS horseshoe curve johnstown altoona pa. CN oakville if you like yard and switching run s its a good route for that plus get GP9MU that fun loco to operate ..Clinchfield decent and challenging older locomotives and operations route is older but be nice to see a revamp of it to higher standards
i i think they are refering to TSW Run 8 is another game and PC only id get run 8 if it would come to gen 9 consoles as a console only player TSW is the best we get no other high quality train sim s seem to be in pipeline for console market and have high quality US content
That’s a pointless answer. You win today’s jackpot. Cajon Pass is probably the best. It’s a good length and has a good mix of slow ascents and descents and a faster level section plus the locos and scenery are pretty good for TSW. The section over the summit is a bit bare but the rest of it is alright.
DTG needs to get their throttles in Run 8 and step up their game as for US freight routes content .. Hire people that know their stuff about US freight or at least go to a 3rd party US freight content developer that can do a Just trains hit it out of the park US freight route content like the Blackpool route DTG has a niche in console market they need to do better take advantage with that ..unless another party wants to step up and give them a run 8 for the money and do somthing better for US train sim on console market
Problem is that there aren't a lot of us 3rd parties that are interested in joining tsw or it's just not financially viable for them if the team is really small.
Personally I think Clinchfield is the best. It does have some issues, but the challenge and variety of industrial services over some really rough grades, and the well-executed scenery, make it for me the best of them. (For all that Sand Patch is very well executed, it's fundamentally an A to B run).
No US freight route has surpassed Sand Patch Grade in nearly 7 years of trying. Clinchfield still has major bugs including missing banking coms, Cajon has some awful scenery bugs, HSC has loco issues, Cane Creek has rolling stock problems and is just a single track crawl through ( for Americans) repetitive scenery and Sherman is missing the Cut Off. Yes, Sand Patch is an A to B route but there's still plenty to do, challenging terrain, excellent lighting and solid loco variety and the artistry is second to none. It even has a few people on the streets. It's not perfect, but it's as close as DTG or SHG has managed to come.
From a quality perspective, Sand Patch Grade is still unrivalled in the freight department. From my own personal viewpoint, Clinchfield all the way. Would love it to get some love, or even a steam era timetable in the future. Unfortunately, it didn't sell well apparently so I don't see much happening with it Sherman Hill would possibly be a contender if extra dev time was given to fully implement Track 3.
Eventually, the community themselves might make one. The question I have is if DTG ever has the intention to release community made routes to Console, and if so, How?
Absolutely this. I just fired up Run 8 a couple of days ago after a six month hiatus (shame on me) and had forgotten how good and absorbing it can be. Currently running a mile long rake of covered hoppers out from Mojave to Trona where they all need to be sorted onto the relevant loading tracks. I have three more trains inbound to Mojave under AI also with traffic for Trona and the various locals that operate out of Mojave.
Sand Patch Grade -Only real downside is the shorter train lengths due to its earlier release. Could use some more DLC for more variety in locos and freight cars. -Clinchfield is 2nd, but its unfixed bugs and lack of post release content left it behind -Sherman Hill is neutered with the lack of track 3, and it still leaves alot to be desired -Cane Creek is only good visually in the Canyon, but was poorly executed by Skyhook Games -Horseshoe curve was an improvement, but for whatever reason, I dont see any enjoyment from the route. Though I do give props to Skyhook for the Norfolk Southern Heritage Unit pack, puts to shame the UP one made by DTG. -Cajon is fine if you arnt a hardcore US railfan, but at someone who lives a few hours from it, has actually railranned it and such, TSW's rendition of it is such a let down in the scenery department. The route also lacks the UP traffic on BNSF's line, on top of proper cement cars for the cement plants, no BNSF Autorack, the grain elevator in San Bernardino isn't used. Not to mention the TOFC cars that came with the BNSF SD70ACe (Which in its current configuration, cant lead BNSF trains IRL) are not accurate to modern day operations. Dont even get me started on the ATSF F7 DLC... -We dont talk about Oakville, though the GP9RM is a gem from that route.
IMHO there is no best. All are good in there own way. Cajon Pass is my personal favorite. But, that doesn't mean it's the best.
None are truly good to play when in comes to standards. Horseshoe Curve and. Clinchfield are my top two. Oakville is good for free roam if you like simulating yarding and local delivery runs. But this games biggest downfall is the save game feature. It hurts realism if you want to continue doing the small stuff. I dont understand how turning my ps5 back on literally breaks every locomotive in resuming my game causing nothing to operate even with resetting physics.
Sherman Hill is one of my favourites and is on special!! It is quite fast too. Not all. When climbing you might be grinding away for a bit. But that is REAL railroading.
Consoles seems to be popular. I am sure Matt Peddlsden is interested in making some routes available for consoles. If you see a few routes that have been put together well you may end up seeing them as a freeware DLC via Steam. I know other games have free content you just grab it on steam. So it's not like impossible.
Get all your mates to buy Train Sim World on console and PC. The more that get involved, the more routes that will be made.
I recently got 2 friends into console version s of TSW 3 and 4 they were visiting and showed them the game they both thought it looked and played decent for console version my 1 friend has played trainz years ago on his pc but he play console games ..my other friend is like me console only ..i dont want pc too much technical high maintenance and expense costs to have high end gaming experience dont understand about mods drivers and the high end geekness ...gen 9 consoles should be able to handle TSW what ever they do for gameplay they definitely need to bring community created content to be playable on gen 9 high end consoles xb series x ps 5
pl Plus im not young getting up there in my late 50 s but grew into gaming via my first gaming console the atari 2600 back in the 80s stayed with gaming all through will keep doing so till i cant no more
Awful graphics though, and over-priced for a 15 year old game. Plenty of long freight routes in TSC and with Railworks enhanced 2 installed miles better graphics. Also nearly endless scenarios on the Workshop.
Cajun Pass is probably the best TSW freight route, I like the scenery of the big yard down there (good shunting) and the California hills. It will also link in with the new US passenger Metro Link route from LA. Personally I have all the US freight routes and none of them are bad, though I enjoy them more on TSC.
