in my case, class 465(456?). first, it has wide front windows, which is tremendously good to clear sight, and very loud sound. combination of them gave me feeling drive like 150mph although speed limit is 60. second, it has very...borderline infrastructure. not too old, but definitely old compared to, like, class 385. bits of nostalgia it gives, but not too deep that interfere controls and driving experience. third, it has cruise control. i discovered this function in fairly recent days, and liberation from controlling every 2~3mph per half minute is just awesome. SEHS's speed limit is not that consistent, as everyone knows, so using of cruise control does not cause boredom at least for me. fourth, it was in TSC's SEHS, which was basic route for TS2014. as far as i know, you can drive one scenario in 2-car formation in snowy weather and driving this train reminds me old memories about those times. i didn't run SEHS much in recent days, but by one instance after starting timetable mode, it's like, "welcome home" time. which experience gave me a question, what is your best train to drive in TSW? and what's the reason? i assume that answers for this would be diverse compared to answers for best route.
I like a lot the ICE 3M, the Talent 2 and the 1972 Stock. Those were my first trains in the game but I think they are all well made and the 1972 stock is just cool.
Yes it's quite complex to drive with lot of things to remember but it's a lot of fun. Sadly the route are not of this quality.
Class 31. I used to hold the class in some distain when they were in service. They were somewhat poor cousins to the locos around them. The TSW 31 completely changed that, its creaks, hisses and groans as it barrels along with its 'flutey' exhaust note is something I never tire of, it's tricky to master brakes (read woeful at best, like using your feet at worst) always make me smile. Even a few extra meters at braking points means you find yourself sailing past the stop objective. It's a tricky loco to master properly but so entertaining to try.
First place would be Br143 shared with Br101. I'd throw in the Br155 here as well but the audio isn't up there unfortunately.
For me it is the class 45s a favourite in real life and this transfers over to TSW too. I just can't seem to get enough of them.
Definitely the 101 for me. As well as being a reminder of my childhood, it’s interesting to drive, always plenty to do, challenging - and so satisfying when you get it right.
I quite like the Class 323 from BCC. The sounds it makes when accelerating and coming to a stop at a station makes my ears very happy! The class 158 from MML is a close second, as I always wanted to drive that train and I was not disappointed after having ridden one as a passenger a few times.
For the UK Class 45 with the 31 a close runner up. US got to be the Clinchfield F7 with the SFC Baby Bullet the runner up. Germany is harder to call - there are so many quality items but the 110 probably top of the list with a tie for second place between the G6 and 101.
DB BR 101, 103 and 110.3 and its cab car, in this order. Like the 628 and the 146.2, too. ICE1 would be cool if the AFB/ LZB would work prototypical in terms of manual breaking.
Honestly, I like them all, The only one I really cannot get to grips with and thus, dislike with a passion, is the 101. But if I had to choose, it's the Scotrail 385 for EMU and the Arosa loco (name escapes me)
Class 323 is my most used train. It's iconic, recognisable and runs in my area. 700 is close behind. Modern, clean, recognisable etc.
I love driving the DB 101 - big fans of them in real life, and you get that sense of power. Hopefully there'll be more routes where we can run it - and with a full set of coaches.
BR101 can be seen commonly among mentions... interesting. they're clearly iconic, speedy and powerful. need to dig that loco out in someday
the class 101 amongst the 403 and 423 aswell as the 425 and of course the 401! (and 442, 182, 146, 187, 185, 112, 143, 422 and whatnot) sounds are not perfect, on the 401 even worse (the Enhancement Pack rules tho) and when the 407 and 402 get released, they'll definetly be on top of my list! (to be clear, those two are MODS but they'll still be a banger!)
