1. Ayshire Coast Class 380 at Saltcoats. This route could provide a layer for CCL because this train also runs on CCL and could be the first modern day train for Scotland in TSW! Trains go from Glasgow Central to Ayr, Adrossan Harbour and Largs. 2. Edinburgh to Glasgow (via Falkirk) This scenic route enjoyed by many is one of the main routes from Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh with trains every 20 Minutes! 3. Glasgow South Western Railway. This is the railway from Glasgow Central to Carlisle via Kilmarnock. Nice Scottish trips through Ayshire and the boarders on the Class 156 Desil Trains. View attachment 96033 Trains from Kilmarnock also go to Ayr, Girvan and Stranraer. 4. West Highland Line Known as one of the most scenic Railway journeys in the world the west Highland line is a long stretch of railway from Glasgow Queen Street to Oban, Fort William and Mallaig. Trains are not all that frequent but trains such as Scotrail Class 156 DMU'S, Caledonian Sleeper and The Jacobite Steam Train can also be annoyed on this route as well as freight. 5. Highland Mainline The Highland Mainline is a scenic railway passing through mountains and lochs from Edinburgh Waverly and Glasgow Queen Street to Inverness. Rolling stock being these newly refurbished and much loved Inter 7 City HST sets and Class 170 DMU'S. As well as LNER Class 800 Services. 6. Dalmuir - Larkhall OR Whifflet OR Motherwell OR Cumbernauld Balloch - Airdrie Helensburgh - Edinburgh Could be released in 2 parts: Main Release - Glasgow Queen St low level services Helensburgh - Edinburgh Balloch - Airdrie Milngavie Springburn Glasgow Central low level services DLC Dalmuir - Larkhall/Whifflet/Motherwell/Cumbernauld 7. Inverclyde Line As of 2019, the line is mainly operated by Class 318s, Class 320s, Class 380s and Class 385s. The Inverclyde line uses the same Glasgow and Paisley Joint Railway tracks as the Ayrshire Coast Line until Paisley Gilmour Street; although the two lines occupy different sets of platforms at Paisley Gilmour Street. From Paisley, the line heads to Port Glasgow station, after which it branches. The main route heads through Greenock to Gourock, where it connects with ferry services to Dunoon and Kilcreggan. The branch heads through the southern suburbs of Greenock to Wemyss Bay, where it connects with ferry services to Rothesay on the island of Bute. For most of the day five trains an hour operate each way on the Glasgow to Port Glasgow stretch, four of which run to Gourock, the other serving the Wemyss Bay line. The latter and two of the Gourock trains are express services stopping only at Paisley Gilmour Street and Bishopton (except for the 1725 ex Glasgow, which runs non-stop from Paisley Gilmour Street to Port Glasgow) between Glasgow and Port Glasgow, while the other two Gourock trains stop at all stations. This changes in the evenings, and after 8 pm only two trains an hour run to Gourock, with the Wemyss Bay train stopping at all stations. These are my top 7 Scottish routes I want to see in Train Sim World. Let me know which one you want to see and if there is another Scottish route you want to see then please type it in the comments.
Personally my favourite route I want to see is the Ayshire Coast Line because that Is my local route but let me know what you think
The GSWR line to Carlisle would be my pick with a class 156. Even better, in my opinion with a large logo class 47/4 and mark 2's as per the 1980's. But the modern version would be very nice too.
Didn't we already have this suggested a while ago. Anyhow if length is no object, then I want Inverness to Wick/Thurso, set in the early 1970's so we can get Class 24 and Class 26 haulage. Still plenty of freight around at that time. Failing that I would settle for an "Inverness Hub" style route, same period but maybe Inverness to Dingwall (or Invergordon for most of the freight), Garve on the Kyle Line to give the Raven Rock climb and Inverness to Aviemore so you could run those triple headed 18 coach night trains over Schlod Summit.
My top picks would be: -Edinburgh to Dundee via Kirkcaldy with the Scotrail Class 170 in Saltire livery, plus the Scotrail HST in the Inter7city livery. -Edinburgh to Glasgow Queen Street via Falkirk with the Scotrail Class 385 and a Freightliner Class 66 for Grangemouth. -Fort William to Mallaig with the Scotrail Class 156, plus a Jacobite excursion train using the Black 5 and Class 37. I know the Ayrshire Coast Line is your favourite route, but personally I would pick the neighbouring Inverclyde line instead should it come to a choice, because it is slightly shorter (should take less time to build) contains some nicer looking stations (like Wemyss Bay) and would provide more scope for the Class 314 as a layer for extra variety (they were used here more often as far as I know). Glasgow Southwestern, Highland Main Line and the full West Highland Line are probably too long to make as complete routes.
Okay, Sounds good! TBH, anything with a class 380 in it and I'm buying it immediately. The Class 380 is my favourite train and my local train and I have been wanting to drive it science I was young.
Even better if it could layer back on to Cathcart Circle for extra peak-time services and as AI in and out of Glasgow Central
Fife Circle Forth Bridge Line is set in 2022 with 170 & 158. Long Distance services to Dundee is HST LNER Class 800
Inverclyde line would work well. I think it's a good idea. But if they were willing to take longer on it I still think ayshire coast would be a good option
As much as a love the fort William to mallaig route it would take far too long for the Devs to build it. So it's unlikely. Sorry.
The North Clyde/Argyle lines which are simply listed as the “Dunbartonshire” timetable on the Scotrail website. The routes operate on a central core in Glasgow and branch off to numerous different termini, with a mix of urban and interurban sections. For the player this would provide a large and varied timetable and lots of variety. There is potential for several different types of scenarios. Rolling stock on the route are currently Class 334 Juniper Class 320 and Class 318 For the developers the route would provide an opportunity to start with a core section and expand later with additional sections should the whole timetable be a little too ambitious. Services operate as: Milngavie - Springburn OR Edinburgh (peak time) Dalmuir - Larkhall OR Whifflet OR Motherwell OR Cumbernauld Balloch - Airdrie Helensburgh - Edinburgh Could be released in 2 parts: Main Release - Glasgow Queen St low level services Helensburgh - Edinburgh Balloch - Airdrie Milngavie Springburn Glasgow Central low level services DLC Dalmuir - Larkhall/Whifflet/Motherwell/Cumbernauld
Not necessarily. Speaking as a former route builder in the other sims, it’s far quicker to put together something that doesn’t require large urban and industrial areas to be represented. Apart from Fort William and surrounding area there are no huge population centres along the route. Yes custom models will be required for the various bridges, viaducts and stations but I would have thought any 3D modeller worth their salt would be itching to have a go at Glenfinnan Viaduct!
If they do any train be it the Class 380, Class 385 or Class 156 they need to get every detail right. Especially the Sprinters. The physics of the Class 150 were completely wrong so they need to get it right. For the Class 380 they need to have a detailed train and the ability to angle the gangway for coupling with the switch. The sounds need to be good as well because it's such an iconic train and iconic family of trains. For the Class 385. The movements sounds and cab need to be right otherwise it will just look like any other train from the cab. There is some sounds they could reuse such as The Class 387 door sounds on the Class 380. And the Class 465 door sounds for the Class 156. Let me know if there are other details or trains that you think are important for new routes
Thanks. No matter the line I think another Scottish route is a must, and done properly. The CCL was good but only half baked with one train.
I agree. I'm also kinda surprised DTG of Rivet Games hasn't made a route in Stirling yet seen as they both have a studio there
I would really like the Ayshire Coast or Glasgow Queen Street to Oban line but we just have to hope that whatever they make next is ethier Scottish, good of both. (hopefully both)
Stirling is home to Rivet Games and if you put their Studios on Satnav to the Railway station it's a 15-20 minutes walk. Cons Poor physics on their trains but scenery is a mix of good and bad parts
Helensburgh - Edinburgh forms part of the North Clyde/Argyle lines. If they were to pick just one branch of it to do that would he the most interesting. But as the branch lines use much of the same track it would be easy to increase the value, with a small amount of extra track to provide a large increase in variety.
Agree that we need more Scottish stuff in TSW! Cathcart Cirle is in my opinion and really fun route with the Scotrial 314. Really would love to see more, its also a new regio thats been introduced with the Cahtcart Cirle which is lovely to see
matt#4801 , Here it is. I have also put it in my other thread about the potential new Scottish route. Rivet Games Scottish Route Hint by TSW Nathan posted Oct 5, 2022 at 6:08 PM
Thank you for your support. I always love to hear other people being supportive about Scottish routes in tsw
Rivet posted this model of Partick interchange on their social media. I wonder if it is a hint at their upcoming project, or just a nod to their already existing North Clyde PC route.
I think it's a hint. I doubt they would just nod to that just now after they announce a route and are all ready hinting at Scottish content
Fife Circle line would be really nice to see. Or any route that has us crossing over the Forth Rail bridge.
Thanks. Very interesting. So far we know it will go through Partick and will have a Class 385. I can't wait to see this!
That’s not true. So far you think it will go through Partick and have a Class 385. Not the same as knowing. Nothing has been announced.
