(Initially forgot Scotland, added it now) Not sure what the best way to divide up the UK is, but if we base it on this definition then I believe the existing UK routes are as follows: Code: | Route | Release Date | London | North West | South East | Scotland | South West | East Midlands | West Midlands | Yorkshire | East | North East | Wales | |-------------------------------|--------------|--------|------------|------------|----------|------------|---------------|---------------|-----------|------|------------|-------| | Great Western Express | 2017/09/14 | X | | X | | | | | | | | | | West Somerset Railway | 2018/05/24 | | | | | X | | | | | | | | Northern Trans-Pennine | 2018/12/13 | | X | | | | | | X | | | | | Tees Valley Line | 2019/05/23 | | | | | | | | | | X | | | East Coastway | 2019/12/12 | | | X | | | | | | | | | | Bakerloo Line | 2020/08/20 | X | | | | | | | | | | | | Isle of Wight | 2020/10/15 | | | X | | | | | | | | | | Southeastern High Speed | 2021/02/04 | X | | X | | | | | | | | | | Cathcart Circle Line | 2021/06/10 | | | | X | | | | | | | | | Brighton Main Line | 2021/10/07 | X | | X | | | | | | | | | | West Cornwall Local | 2021/11/04 | | | | | X | | | | | | | | Spirit of Steam | 2022/05/31 | | X | | | | | | | | | | | Birmingham Cross-City | 2022/11/17 | | | | | | | X | | | | | | ScotRail Express | 2023/01/26 | | | | X | | | | | | | | | Midland Main Line | 2023/04/18 | | | | | | X | | | | | | | Peak Forest | 2023/05/09 | | | | | | X | | | | | | | Glossop Line | 22023/06/27 | | X | | | | X | | | | | | | East Coast Main Line | 2023/09/26 | | | | | | | | X | X | | | | Goblin Line | 2024/03/19 | X | | | | | | | | | | | | Fife Circle Line | 2024/02/26 | | | | X | | | | | | | | | West Coast Main Line South | 2024/09/17 | X | | X | | | | | | | | | | Preston - Carlisle | 2024/11/26 | | X | | | | | | | | | | | Mildmay Line | 2025/03/04 | X | | | | | | | | | | | | Cardiff City Network | 2025/03/18 | | | | | | | | | | | X | | Manchester Airport Commuter | 2025/07/01 | | X | | | | | | | | | | | Riviera Line | 2025/09/30 | | | | | X | | | | | | | | Birmingham - Crewe (Upcoming) | 2025/10/21 | | X | | | | | X | | | | | | Preston - Crewe (Upcoming) | | | X | | | | | | | | | | Totals London - 7 (Bakerloo, Goblin, Mildmay, BML, GWE, SEHS, WCMLS) North West - 7 (MAC, WCMLOS, SoS, Birmingham-Crewe, Glossop, Northern Trans-Pennine, Preston-Crewe) South East - 6 (ECW, IOW, BML, GWE, SEHS, WCMLS) East Midlands - 3 (MML, Peak Forest, Glossop) Scotland - 3 (Cathcart, Edinburgh-Glasgow, Fife) South West - 3 (West Somerset Railway, West Cornwall Local, Riviera) West Midlands - 2 (Birmingham Cross-City, Birmingham-Crewe) Yorkshire and the Humber - 2 (Northern Trans-Pennine, ECML) East - 1 (ECML) North East - 1 (Tees Valley Line) Wales - 1 (Cardiff City Network) Northern Ireland - 0 Personally I am hoping for another South East third rail route. While routes like WCMLS might technically be in the South East, we haven't had a Southern third rail route since Brighton Main Line in 2021
A stretch from Milton Keynes to Birmingham is needed to connect WCML and drive all the way from London to Crewe
I put South West, as in South West Trains 3rd rail. I'd be equally as happy if we got one in the Southeast as well, with the 375 and 465.
I would like to see a route featuring the class 465, a logical route not a section midway through a journey. A logical stretch of the ECML with a class 91 would be second choice.
I'd personally consider ECML to also be in the East Midlands. Retford, Newark and Grantham to be specific. As to answer the question, definitely a route in South Yorkshire that isn't the ECML as only about 5 minutes is in South Yorkshire.
The East Midlands article on Wikipedia (which is linked in the article op posted) lists all three in the towns and cities section
My favourite route is still Tees Valley Line, so anything industrial-looking around that area would be great.
Greater Manchester We could have such a great little network route, the Oldham Loop, Wigan via Swinton, Wigan via Bolton, up to Preston to join BPO, WCMLShap, South Manchester too, heck if they set it in the 80s we could have the Bury electric line too
The game is literally crying out for the Deltic to be introduced, so East Coast is my vote. York - Newcastle ideally lol.
Dublin to Belfast, if we can’t have the euro tunnel in TSW we atleast deserve the UK only other cross border train
This confused me for a second as was like "Swinton is in South Yorkshire" then I remembered there's one in Manchester and one in South Yorkshire
I'd like to see Fife Circle with an extension to either Perth or Dundee to get a logical end to end point... Most importantly I'd like to see a return to the South East, particularly South Eastern with a 'Network' style route with Charing Cross - Sevenoaks & Hayes Branch featuring the BREL and ABB Class 465s. Or alternatively, a long distance SouthEastern route with London Charing Cross to Hastings with the other 375 variants. Although with the Hastings route suggestion, it could also work with a backdated route featuring Slamdoor electrics. It's completely possible to obtain the sounds and reference material for Southern Region slamdoor DC EMUs, compared to the Mk1 AC EMUs.
Wouldn’t mode seeing the north east again and a modern day version of the TVL with it being extended to Bishop Auckland and they could use the Northern licence again, add in for the first time the 156 seeing as it’s a train a lot of people want to see and another version of the 158.
I voted East as in East Anglia. Whether the Wherry Lines (plus Sheringham), the top half of the GEML or cross country from Norwich to Peterborough, regardless of era bring it on.
Voted for the region I live. The closest to TSW I am is Doncaster, and even that's a half hour train ride away.
Would love to see another Fife Circle extension but I wouldn’t say the end points are bad. We have 3 full end to end services in the route & some routes don’t even have 1!
I would usually completely agree with you... However with the leaked Inter7City coming to TSW at some point, it would be nice to have a good old stretch of its legs upto Perth!
