This is a series of polls gathering public assessment of which were the exemplary routes at each stage of TSW's development. For this purpose I am counting original TSW and TSW 2020 as one generation, since that was really just a rebranding; and Rush Hour as a separate generation since the migration to UE 4.26 was a major core change. Note also that I have separated the original and upgraded versions of Sand Patch Grade, Southeastern High Speed and Long Island Railroad/Commuter
I voted for Brighton Mainline. The amount of services and Layers (on PS5) was really refreshing and showed what the game is capable of.
BML, not for any love of the Electrostar but the fact we actually got a full route not a portion thereof and the timetable, when it didn’t lock up, is absolutely superb. Dresden to Riesa, similar sentiments really still one of the best all round German routes. SoS - for all its flaws and empty timetable there is still something about being able to run a late 1950’s UK steam route.
BML(I've been passed Battersea many times irl), Tharandter(love this) and Horseshoe(weird, but I like looking out the window to see the back). Nahverkehr doesn't quite do it for me. Dunno why
Here I have to go for Tharandter Rampe! I just love those kind of winding routes which are interesting to navigate with all the gradient and speed changes. Plus, the 612 is a great addition to the game overall and really deserves/needs a remaster
Boston Sprinter only, Sherman Hill sacrificed too much to be considered a "good" route in my books, and nothing really notable for SHG's Horseshoe Curve.
BML was simply a classic and a decent run too. With the 700 mod it’s the busiest UK route to drive too.
i played all of the above my personal ranking changes in what mood i am i even like West Cornwall Local in some way although it is a route with plenty bugs and could use some major overhaul
Even though it wasn’t an official yearly release as such, the three routes that came under the Rush Hour banner were easily the best “three pack” they’ve done. All three were bangers, especially Brighton Mainline.
Since Nahverkehr Dresden got a remaster it's my number one on that list, followed by Tharandter Rampe, since that's the route that got me to try TSW in the first place. With the TOD3 lighting and its dated timetable and looks, it would've faired better as a TSC route. Also in TSC both Dresden and Chemnitz-Hilbersdorf could've been populated with steam engines, which we most likely will never get in TSW It did give us the 612 though which is good.
This was a very poor year for routes. A right bunch of stinkers. I could only vote for two as a result. It was possibly the worst year for TSW and happily things were back on the up with TSW3.
Brighton Main Line. A full, complete route with a busy timetable. Not many that have either of those, or both together.
