I have the East Coastway and am driving the BR Class 377/4 and when turning on headlights I see there's a day running light setting and a marker light setting. When do you use them? And what's the difference? I'm not familiar with train headlights in the UK I'm more use to American train headlights.

Marker only lights would be used for depot shunting moves.
The day running are for normal day time service and likewise with night running lights. Night light setting is used from 8pm to 8am be regulation in the UK.
