Hello, I thought the game was released today yet when I go on steam it still says it's not available to install? Does anyone have a time for this?
Sam has made it clear in the recent streams. This question is so popular with the answer posted in obvious places. 17:00 UTC is prime time! Check the FAQ if you have other questions. There’s a chance you’ll find the answer there. If not, feel free to come back and ask me. Here’s the link to the FAQ! Thanks guys, not watched any of the streams as I want to experience the game first myself! Cheers for the help!
Well, it isn't 5pm BST (which is the same as UTC currently). So whatever was mentioned on the streams was incorrect. Bit of a punch in the gut considering us fellow PC gamers have to wait, whereas console users got theirs unlocked at midnight.
I'm pretty sure the time games go live is set by the platform, not the dev. There is no logical reason for DTG to make PC players wait. It's much more likely that Steam and the PS/Xbox stores do things differently.
Frustrating and confusing! Doesn't explain why we have to wait, while consoles get access immediately. Just takes the shine off the experience. Thanks for clearing that up for me though.
From what I remember of the various games I've pre-ordered through Steam, it's common for them to go live at 5pm UTC. Blame Steam not DTG.
UTC is commonly used for servers since there is no daylight saving on it so you don't have to go through the faffing about with clock changes especially in the autumn when the clocks go back so the same hour repeats itself which will cause mayhem in a timestamped database.
Does it really matter to 24 hours?. I am as keen as anyone to try it out and paid up front, but hopefully it will download before midnight BST.
