Hello everyone, I would like to ask which keyboard shortcuts you have changed? I don't really get to grips with some of the standard key bindings and would like to get a little inspiration. So far I have only swapped the buttons for the direction switch and the power lever so that I can accelerate (and brake) the train with W and S.
As a long-time Train Simulator Classic player, I've not changed any of the key bindings, as I've been used to them for well over a decade I even change the keybindings in other rail simulators to mimic the one used in TSC and TSW (for instance in Tram Simulator).
headlamp to F as it makes more sense to be a flashlight, and most games have it as a flashlight bound to the F key
Taking the Vectron through power changeovers on Vorarlberg got me to change the main circuit breaker and pantograph up and down keys so that the sequence is now: ctrl O - mcb off ctrl P - pantograph down Then (realistic, but tedious can’t pay attention to where you’re going) sequence to select the appropriate country and voltage. P - panto up O - mcb on
I've put brake controls on the numpad. 7 and 9 for the automatic, 4 and 6 for the dynamic, and 1 and 3 for the direct brake. The "move to lap" function for the BR class 101 is Num 8, and I've remapped PZB override, release and acknowledge to Num /, *, and - respectively so they're closer to the brake controls.
I changed the decelerate and acceleration buttons to my side buttons on my mouse and the aws to the button next to the mouse scroll. I use the buttons for the aws and acceleration but click the trains buttons for doors for some reason.
Ive changed a number, the below lists most of the important ones, notice I have left and right doors open at opposite ends of the keyboard, this is because of my dexterity issues so I dont hit the wrong one by accident Im continually tweaking the key binds and I try to utilise as many of the key binds even the ones not defaulted, my wish is that Id be able to save keybinds on a train by train basis one day. I also have extensive notes of what function does what on most of trains (and all of TSW4 trains) which if it would be of interest to people I can look at putting into a document and share.
a while a go Myron posted a cheatsheet for TSW controls. I took that template idea and used it make my own with my own assignments for reference:
I haven't changed any of the keybindings but I got bored one night and decided to make an ETS2 esc keyboard layout, sadly it doesn't recognize game state and change color or anything. Here's an awful pic I found since I'm at work at the moment.
